July 29, 201115 yr Granted the circumstances are different, but take Chad from a few years ago, had he threatened retirement, what kind of reaction would he have gotten? It was his position that people would be outraged by his actions whereas the majority are on Palmer's side today. This question has been brought up by Chad before and mentioned this week on 1st and 10. Is it a WR thing? Mike Brown thing? Racial thing? Ocho thing? Edited July 29, 201115 yr by bugatti
July 29, 201115 yr Author I don't think the majority is on Caron's side.Let me rephrase, a majority are not yelling at the top of their lungs about Palmer. Last Sportsnation poll I saw had people siding with Palmer in that he should be traded. Though I think the more people learn about it the sentiment is changing.

Chad has a history of being a malcontent so I am sure the outrage would be far worse than it is with Palmer. Plus some people understand how stupid and horrible Mike Brown is so they feel bad for these guys and hope they get to play somewhere else.

Interestingly the people who know Mike Brown the best and his negatives (Cincy fans) are the ones growing in support on this issue. I think the Brown angle plays a big deal in it all.
July 29, 201115 yr Mikey viewed Chad as expendable at this point and even replaced him. He still needs Carson to work for him.
July 29, 201115 yr Who in Southern Ohio or Kentucky is on Palmer's side? I am. I applaud Palmer for sticking to his guns.
July 29, 201115 yr Carson saved his money. Chad spends his money. Thats why he couldn't do what Carson is doing.
July 29, 201115 yr I am. I applaud Palmer for sticking to his guns. He pulled that gun out and used it to sign a contract extension. To me thats like reloading your guns and putting it back in the holster. Now he has bullets that he's not using. All the good pub that Carson has got for being loyal, a leader, it was his recommendation to sign "TO" and so forth is now blowing up in his face. When Colin Cowherd has his back that proves it even more. Now let it be known that I think Mike Brown is incompetent. I truly think Mikey thinks Carson will come back...eventually. With Chad gone, that has to help. I wonder if Carson and Tom Brady have had a conversation.
July 29, 201115 yr I am. I applaud Palmer for sticking to his guns. Me too. I also think Brown not trading him shows exactly why the Bengals are normally a noncompetitive team. Whether you agree with what Chad is doing or not the fact is he will win in the end and the Bengals will have nothing to show for it. Just dumb.
July 29, 201115 yr Mikey viewed Chad as expendable at this point and even replaced him. He still needs Carson to work for him. ^ This. Chad has been replaced. There is no replacement for Carson this year. The Bengals need him to win so Brown is not letting him go. Brown ignores player comments, threats, promises, etc. He looks at what the team needs and if that player can help and that makes his decision. Palmer is the Bengals best chance to win this year so he isn't going anywhere and what he threatens is not even a consideration for Mikey.

You forgot the part about where he then looks at his bank account and determines if cost of the team's need might impact his ever-growing profits. Profits - not team needs, not wins, not Super Bowls, not fan goodwill - always come first in Bengaldom.
