Who? IMO an already declining QB that isn't getting younger sitting out an entire year getting rusty won't be as valuable next year as he is today.

 

I have heard that from a few sources online, I will try to find them. However I think it is very true that even if they wait a year, they could at best still get a 2nd, but at worst get a 3rd. Some teams might consider it a good thing that he gets to rest his arm for a year, basically like having a season ending injury to start the year. Except he can train full speed all off-season, however at worst the Bengals would get a 3rd still if they wait. So yes they will lose a little value, but not much. It is worth it to find out if Palmer really is being truthful about retiring, or just bluffing. There is always the possibility of trading him mid-season too if a team in the hunt loses their QB.

 

I do find it funny that you all want to get draft picks because you think its good for the team. Yet then people complain about how the Bengals don't have the scouts to do well in the draft. So why do you want to do that, when the Bengals best chance to win this year is still with Palmer if he came back. So why do you want to get rid of that chance, for draft picks that have a chance of being a failure like many other picks under Brown?

The Bengals played the toughest schedule in the league last year I believe I heard. They had 8 of their losses come down until the final 3 minutes of the game, or the final possession. Some of you act like the Bengals just flat out got dominated last year and sucked, when that is not true. They played really good teams, and were in each of them but couldn't make the plays at the end. Which is why their record was what it was. Now this year they play a much easier schedule, especially to start the year. With Palmer they could get off to a quick start, which would give this young team confidence, and if you have confidence then anything can happen.

 

As for the receivers the young receivers did pass TWO HUGE TEST last year at the end of the year. They played two top five defenses to end the year in the Chargers, and the Ravens. The Chargers were the hottest team in the NFL and fighting for the playoffs, the Bengals ended their playoff hopes. The Ravens played all their starters and were trying to win the division title, and the young receivers once again had huge games and were 5 yards away from winning that game. This team does have talent, and is not as far off as people make it out to be. With Palmer they can win this year, and compete for the division. Without him, we have no idea how they will do. It would depend how quickly Dalton picks up the NFL game, or if Bruce could do well. Both of those are big question marks, with Palmer they would have a much better chance to win this year which is what they still want to do.

 

Dude, just STOP drinking the Kool-aid. Seriously. I don't give a crap how many close games they had last year. They were 4-12. PERIOD. They just lost their #1 WR and #1 DB. They have a rookie QB, rookie WR, rookie OC, average line on both sides, weak LB's, and no S. Oh, and their #1 RB is a huge question mark. Drink away all you like. I understand trying to keep a positive outlook and hoping for a better tomorrow, but you take it too far.

Ocho and CP thing. CP has never uttered a bad word about anyone or fought a coach. CP has been a company man his entire time here. So much so that he's been criticized for not openly questioning Mike Brown and being more of a vocal leader calling out WR's running bad routes. 85 has been an 85 fan for a long long time. Also, CP saved smartly and wisely and I'm guessing he has had a plan from day 1 as to how he wanted this to go. Mike Brown is widely regarded as the worst owner in the NFL when it comes to fan friendliness and trying to win football games. Anyone that supports this move is supporting a guy that swings and misses 95% of the time. The only reason Marvin Lewis was hired was they couldn't sell tickets. The only reason they have two winning seasons is b/c CP was a very good QB and still is better than half the guys in the NFL. They got extremely lucky to get CP. Their record without Boomer and CO speaks for itself.

 

I am supporting this move for all the reasons you just said. How many QB did the Bengals go through before they found a QB they could compete with and win with in Palmer? Mike Brown has a HORRIBLE track record when it comes to bringing in QB here, what happened the first time when he got rid of Boomer? The Bengals started the horrible 90's, because they couldn't get a QB they could win win, except for the year Boomer came back. So I don't have trust in them finding QB's they can win with. As you said Mike Brown swings and misses a lot on most things, including draft picks. So why would I want them to get rid of a guy who they have and can still win with, for draft picks that we have no idea on how they will pan out. I would rather take a chance of hoping Palmer comes back, then getting those picks. All your reasons you said there about Mike Brown, is why I don't want them to trade Palmer. That is why I do support this decision, because this is one decision he is actually right about. Now if Palmer really does retire, and they still don't try to trade him even next year. Then I won't support that at all.

No I just don't look at this whole thing of being terrible, because its not. As I said with Dalton or Bruce running the show, then who knows what would happen. However with Palmer they can win this year, and Palmer already showed he can can do well with the young receivers against two top defenses. He also would be in a system that best fits him, and what made him successful the most in college which is the West Coast. So that is why I want Palmer back, you don't see me saying that they will defenitely compete for the division even without Palmer. However with Palmer, he gives them the best chance still. You act like it would be a crazy thing to happen, however we see it every year in the NFL. Especially with young teams with talent, which the Bengals do have.

 

I can't rememer if your a Bengals fan or not. I sure hope not, because if you are you probably should find a new team. If you are going to like a team, there is no reason to think the worst all the time. I mean Mike Brown is not going anywhere, so accept things for how they are and how they do things or move on. All my life I have seen mostly losing seasons, and I been around to know when the Bengals teams definitely would be bad. This team however could do well, but with Palmer. Awfully bold to believe Brown will do anything wise as far as football goes. It's personal to him. Just like when he turned down the offer for 85. Prepare to not support it.
