Hunter Pence to the Reds?

Featured Replies

Ideally, I'd like to have Bourn and Pence as I said earlier in the thread.

I can dream, right?

Okay I don't have any problem with Bourn at the top of the Red's lineup. I have said in the past and I'll say it tomorrow they need a leadoff hitter. I wouldn't mind Pence either but why do you think that these guys warrant trading all these guys for? (Stubbs, Alonso, Wood/Bailey/Volquez, Grandal, Francisco) 5 for 2?

Is that the deal they are discussing?

You have to give up something to get something. Pence is far better than anybody else in the deal and Bourn is an ideal leadoff man. Those type of guys don't come cheap.

It sounds as if the Astros are asking for a mint? The Phillies reportedly offered two of their top prospects and another prospect and were turned down.

I'd be okay sending Stubbs, Wood/Bailey/Volquez, Francisco. Alonso and Grandal...not so much.

What's the point of having Alonso wasting away on the bench right now?

Grandal is still a few years away and will likely be blocked once he's ready.

Um...I don't know.

What do you mean Grandal will be blocked?

Devin Mesoraco.

Ah, I thought you meant there was some rule that wouldn't allow him to play. I don't disagree but I like having additional options.

I love the idea of Pence. Hopefully they can get it done.

I actually thought about getting Pence last week for a minute. Kind of weird that the talk is happening now.

The Reds just need something to give them a spark. Pence could be that person.

They sense desperation by some teams. I can't believe that the Phillies are that desperate and I sure hope the Reds are not to give up the farm for a few game improvement this year.

I think Hunter Pence was the most prolific Home Run hitter the Lexington Legends have ever had. Hit in the mid 20's for only half a season then he moved up. He's the best player I've seen play in Lexington besides Roger Clemens. This could be the spark the Reds need.
