July 29, 201115 yr I think Hunter Pence was the most prolific Home Run hitter the Lexington Legends have ever had. Hit in the mid 20's for only half a season then he moved up. He's the best player I've seen play in Lexington besides Roger Clemens. This could be the spark the Reds need. John Buck has had a decent career.
July 29, 201115 yr John Buck has had a decent career. Yes he did. Wandy Rodriguez hasn't been to bad either. Pence was a man among boys in Lexington IMO.
July 29, 201115 yr Author I saw another report that says it looks like the Braves are out because they won't give up any of their 4 top pitching prospects. If the Phillies are also balking at the price of the package, maybe the Reds can make this happen. Bourn and Pence are young enough that I don't mind giving up some quality prospects for them. Alonso is at the top of the list of prospects I would trade. He just doesn't have a place to play in Cincinnati with Votto here. Travis Wood ... no problem trading him. Francisco is an issue because the Reds need a 3B with Rolen's downslide. I would consider Stubbs in the package although I would prefer to insert Heisey instead. I think the Reds have the prospects to do this.

July 29, 201115 yr That probably wouldnt get both since the Phils offered 2 top prospects and 1 more player and didnt get Pence.
July 29, 201115 yr That probably wouldnt get both since the Phils offered 2 top prospects and 1 more player and didnt get Pence. That offer didn't include a switch hitting catcher either.
July 30, 201115 yr Phillies To Acquire Hunter Pence By Tim Dierkes [July 29 at 8:16pm CST] 8:16pm: Pence has been removed from tonight's game against the Brewers, tweets MLB.com's Brian McTaggart. He's getting hugs in the dugout. 7:49pm: The Phillies are close to acquiring Pence, tweets Rosenthal. He says a deal is expected to be completed tonight. Jon Paul Morosi tweets that first baseman Jonathan Singleton and righty Jarred Cosart are in the deal. Rosenthal says the Astros will also get two players to be named later in the deal - one of whom may be announced tonight - and they are not major prospects. 6:42pm: The Phillies and Astros are progressing toward a deal for right fielder Hunter Pence, tweets Ken Rosenthal of FOX Sports. He says talks "are to point where another team will need to trump the Phillies with a superior package," and agrees with ESPN's Buster Olney that the Braves are still trying. Jerry Crasnick tweets that the Braves still think they're right in the race for Pence.
July 30, 201115 yr Done. Pence to Philly for Singleton and Cosart plus 2 players to be named later. Phils gave up their top 2 prospects.
