July 30, 201115 yr I know everyone wants the Bengals to spend alot now, but in all honesty I think not spending is a good move. The team will be young this year, and if they're good it will surprise everyone. Other than Nhamdi, who out there is someone that you JUST HAVE to have? Does anyone out there make them THAT much better this year? I say save, play the young guys, and build through the draft and add some key pieces next off-season with a ton of caproom. If Dalton and Green look good this year, the Bengals draft well next year (which they've been doing alot better IMO), then they will be able to get some good players in Free Agency, when they will have to spend money. My thing is, why waste money this year and still be a terrible team? If Dalton looks good, the Bengals will be able to sell some tickets on the future. I honestly don't think the future is as bleak as alot of Bengals fans do. They are getting rid of the old regime and starting a new, with some stud young offensive players and good young defenders. But still the same old tired management team that hasn't a clue how nor the desire to put together a winning franchise.

I am ok with it except not signing Joseph was a big mistake. They should have given him the dollars. He is a top notch corner who has been trained in your system. Signing him would have helped a lot this year AND in the future.

Now this is one post about the Bengals that I basically agree with you on everything you said.

Signing him would have helped a lot this year AND in the future. I just want to know what the Bengals did offer him. We have no idea what they offered him, all we know is that Joseph said the Bengals also offered him a very competitive offer. So it might have been a big deal too, but my guess is that the Texans offered a little bit more guarnteed money.
July 30, 201115 yr My guess is that Joseph wanted to play for a decent organization, and on a competitive team. For all we know he may have accepted less from the Texans.

Since he has been in the league, the Bengals have been a better team than the Texans. It's not like he has went to a succesful team or anything, its a achieve that has under achieved a lot like the Bengals. Except they don't even at least have playoff appearances to go with it. He said he had to do what was best for him and his family. So I think that shows that they probably did offer more money than the Bengals. Or they just wanted to be somewhere warm.

I don't think you have been paying attention to how the Texans have become better and more competitive in the last 2 years. The Texans will easily be better than the Bengals this year and are closer to the playoffs than the Bengals as well. The Texans should finish behind the Colts this year and are good enough to compete for a Wild Card spot in the playoffs.

For the last two years the Texans were suppose to be the team that was ready to get over the hump and make the playoffs. And for the last two years they have underachieved and found ways to lose games a lot like the Bengals are known to do. So what they are saying about the Texans this year, is no different than what they been saying for the last two years. They also have a head coach that the fans been wanting gone, because of the failed expectations of the team. However just like the Bengals they kept their coach just like the Bengals kept Marvin. So Joseph has joined another franchise that has been known to underachieve. The only difference is the Bengals at least have been able to make the playoffs twice since he has been in the league, and have done that in a tougher division.

Say what you want about the Texans, this season is their best chance to do anything with what they have coming back. I can't say they have underachieved when they just established themselves last year as capable of beating Indy and better than Jacksonville. A deaf, dumb and blind man would rather play for the Texans this year than Cincy.

Yes and the main reason ws because they couldn't stop the pass. That's why they spent what they did for Joseph.
July 31, 201115 yr The Jets are trying to buy a championship Guessing they and Philadelphia don't end up about $50 mil UNDER the salary cap??
July 31, 201115 yr Yes and the main reason ws because they couldn't stop the pass. That's why they spent what they did for Joseph. Yes I know this. The Bengals made the playoffs in 2009, but needed help at WR and they addressed that and where did that get them? The Texans have been a team for the last two years that was suppose to be ready to get over the hump and get into the playoffs. For the last two years, they have underachieved and choked it away. The Bengals during that time have actually made the playoffs, and then had their bad year last year with the toughest schedule in the NFL. So lets not act like the Texans are so much better, they have been like the Bengals actually but without any success. So this is now the first time the Texans are suppose to be good, they were suppose to be good the last 2 years but they find ways to lose games instead (sound familiar). I mean they very well could finally figure it out this year and get over the hump. However they have very much been like the Bengals lately, but without as much success.

I can't say they have underachieved when they just established themselves last year as capable of beating Indy and better than Jacksonville. A deaf, dumb and blind man would rather play for the Texans this year than Cincy. Your top line is exactly what people were saying last year too about them. Yet they still kept finding ways to lose games instead of winning them, a lot like the Bengals. These expectations have been there for them for the last two years, and they kept failing. They very well could finally get over that hump, because no doubt they have the talent. However they have been a lot like the Bengals and had teams who could do well, but instead ended up around a .500 team. The Bengals actually had at least some success to go with it. This year the Texans definitely look like they should be better, however the Texans have shown they know how to lose games more than they know how to win. Which as we know is a bad thing for an organization. They do have the talent though, so maybe they do put it together this year. However no reason to act like that organization has been better, when it had not been.
