The reason they're raising rates is because film studios are raising Netflix's licensing rates. I think I saw the other day where Netflix was paying one studio ~$10 million per year for rights to their movies, but now they've jacked that price up to ~$100 million per year. Netflix is just passing the bill along.

In my neighborhood, the old video store is now being used as a storage shed by the Kroger down the block. I think it was a Hollywood Video. I'm actually amazed when I see a video rental place that's still open.

Wild and Woolly is the only place I've rented a movie from in the 3+ years I've been in Louisville.

OK...I'll admit it. Before Redbox and Netflix, the only thing I did at Blockbuster and Hollywood Video is buy the 3/$10 used movies. :lol:

Not an indie store up that way similar to Wild and Woolly?

Netflix is to video what Pandora is to music. I've discovered a plethora of movies and music with those services that I probably would have never known about without them. Prices increase for goods and services all the time. I have no problem with it.

The feature I really like is that you can go on line and see exactly what movies are available at each location and you can reserve them online. You have to pick them up by I think 8 PM and have them back by the same time the next night.

I don't see how netflix is raising prices, they have a delayed release for new dvd releases and put old to insignificant movies available for online streaming. I have been a netflix customer from the beginning but enough is enough.

There's only one that I know of - Bughouse Video. It's about 10 miles from my house though, so I only make it there when I go up to Shake It (it's a block away). I guess the premium for Netflix is worth not having to make at 20 mile round trip for a rental.

Works out great. We only rent one or two a month, never once had any kind of an issue.

I am going to be cancelling the DVD service but I'm keeping the streaming... I'll probably start using Red Box to get my DVD's.

That is what people fail to understand, or they don't care, they don't care if someones price raises as long as it's not passed down to them. If the prices are not raised they would go out of business.

After reading about Netflix, here, I checked out their selection. None of the popular movies, that I looked for, were available for streaming. For the most part, they only had movies I hadn't heard of before.
