July 12, 201115 yr Article... Netflix's unlimited streaming-only plan will remain at $7.99 a month, while its "1 DVD at a time" plan will also cost $7.99. That means customers who want both streaming and DVDs will have to shell out at least $15.98 a month. I will not be sticking with Netflix through this new price hike. I used to have the $9.99 plan when I originally got it and it worked awesome for me. I didn't use the Mail service all that much but it was nice to have it around. Anyone else going to be getting rid of Netflix because of this?This will be the 2nd time they have raised the price now.

July 12, 201115 yr I'm not really happy about it and I'm going to email them and let them know that since I've joined not even a year ago this is the second price hike. If it's more expensive I'm expecting more choices on streaming and another price hike will lead to my cancellation.

I guess if someone is watching multiple movies a week Red Box might not be attractive. But for the one or two time a month movie watcher, Red Box it is IMO.

For people like me, who like to watch a different movie every night as I fall asleep, Red Box is not practical.

July 12, 201115 yr If Blockbuster raised my plan I would be gone in a heartbeat. I still have the old Blockbuster plan for 3 movies at a time and unlimited monthly rentals for $19.98. It used to be nice with the in store exchanges of my mail order movies, but all of our local stores have closed. I have contemplated cancelling the plan, but because I’ve been grandfathered from price hikes and plan changes, I would hate to cancel and then regret it. Especially after reading that Net Flicks has raised prices twice in a year. If I did cancel I would go the Red Box route.

July 12, 201115 yr I'll probably stick with Netflix. I think they've been a well run company - I've rarely had any problems and the couple of times I did they went out of their way to credit my account for a free month or something. They've been expanding their streaming selection for a while now and are apparently about to add even more. It's still a reasonable price, so I don't mind staying on.
July 12, 201115 yr I will certainly keep my streaming but would love them to have even more of a selection. I have it hooked up to 2 different Xbox's in our house and the Wii in the living room. Definitely worth the 8 bucks a month.

The feature I really like is that you can go on line and see exactly what movies are available at each location and you can reserve them online. You have to pick them up by I think 8 PM and have them back by the same time the next night.
