Restaurant managers

That's funny. Everytime I go to KMart I leave thinking "Shoulda just gone to WalMart..."
I think I said that to a customer or two when they were complaining we didn't have the camera or patio furniture that was in the sales paper. High prices, understaffed amount of workers, nothing on the shelves. One customer said something to me that me and my firends say is KMart's slogan but I can't put it on here . Something close to anything to mess with the customer.

I am a firm believer in the theory that you get what you pay for. Applebees is great for value...but with said value, there will be things that are sacrificed. I make it habit, to stay local in my dining choices. More accountability.

We can't always avoid the chains; but we do try to patronize the locally owned establishments whenever possible.

My wife and I still laugh at the memory of us pulling into McDonald's on 3L and them telling us they were out of hamburgers.

As do we when we relive the memory of a local Dairy Queen being out of ice cream.

Add "sale prices not in the computer" and you have a pretty good summary of KMart.

I've been to Taco Bell when they were out of meat and this was before they had all the steak and chicken options. Also been to Arby's when they ran out of roast beef.

That happened to me at Taco Bell about a year ago.

I have never had real good service at Applbee's. Should you be talking about the Ashland Applebee's then that is magnified about a million times. A case like that imo has to be management. I have heard more than a few complaints on various things about that paticular Applebees. Like anything else, problems like that and that many imo definately reflect on the management.

Made the mistake of going to Kmart today and of course they didn't have what they advertised. I can't fiqure out their business model because they can't possibly be doing enough business to stay open. The stores are like a mid70's time capsule. Things started going down hill fast when they got rid of the blue light specials.

I don't like Applebees either.

Thanks, I feel a lot better.

Applebee's and K-Mart... I hate them both.

I spent a summer working at K-Mart. It was a miserable experience. They would staff plenty of us to run the registers and work the store. But they would start sending people home pretty early in the day, leaving us with limited workers to run the entire store. People would get pulled off of registers to stock and handle other areas. The checkout lines stayed long. It was awful knowing I could jump in in spots and help but wasn't allowed to.

I have a friend who often tells the story of going to KFC and being told they were out of chicken. Classic...

I personally have not had any problems at Applebees. However, if the manager offered to comp my meal, I certainly would not have refused.

I believe in paying for the food I eat.

I almost always stay local with the major exception being when I'm traveling down interstates and it's very hard to find something local right off an exit.

I worked at a K-Mart for around three years in the late 70's (blast from the past :D) and remember doing some of those Blue Light Special announcements "attention k mart shoppers I would like to direct your attention to the appliance dept....". K-Mart was done for when the first Wal Mart came to our area. They eventually ran K Mart and Hill's (which was right across the street) out.

Outside of happy hour, Applebee's sucks.

Also I went to Jimmy Johns in Hebron the other day and they were out of bread.

I always thought it was the head cook/chef's responsibility to order food but I could be wrong.

Chain joints like Applebee's don't have "head cooks" or "chefs." Ask to speak to the kitchen manager. Don't do that on a Saturday night, though, because there aren't many kitchen managers there at that time. Kitchen managers generally oversee the morning prep work, and tend to work Tuesday-Saturday.

My best suggestion would be not to eat at crummy chain restaurants, though.
