John Proctor and Wilson Sears just insulted many public schools by saying they can't compete.

John Hardin students and fans should be highly insulted when they find out there was no way for them to compete with St.X. I guess all the advantages that St. X has would not allow John Hardin to get that 2 point conversion no matter how had they tried.

Why did Sears even allow his team to come North to play a game against a team they can't compete with? Granted they were playing a team with no field, no locker room, a practice field with no grass and one goal post, but all those advantages add up.

I saw this article and just cringed :irked:

Proctor, Sears and Prop 20 has worn me out.....

I really don't care what happens at this point...seperate, kick-out....whatever!

This is what bothers me the most..................

They are teaching these kids that if you feel you can't compete than change the playing field.

Alot of what these kids learn in athletics they will use in life.

Life is not fair...you may do everything you are supposed to do and you still don't get what you want or what you deserve. Does this mean you give up? NO!!!! That means you try harder for what you want...sometimes you will have to settle for second best....this is LIFE!!!

What happens when these kids go to get a job....they are once again competing against other people...what if someone else gets the job??

Are they going to look at the person hiring and say....Hey you need to change the rules for me!! Which I am sure will go over real well

This is the advice I have for the kids affected by Prop 20!

Go out EVERYDAY and give your best. Somedays you will win and somedays you will lose! But at least you can walk away with your pride knowing that you gave it your all :ylsuper: :ylsuper:

This article, imo, was written in favor of the publics. It certainly had a biased conotation.

It may have been slightly public school biast but I felt the Private school guys came out looking better. I just don't get what they expect Private schools to do in football. Split into two groups of eight and have playoffs like that? I can't see O'boro Cath, NCC, LCA, or CAL being able to consistently compete w/ Trinity, St. X and Lex Cath or Cov Cath at times. Heck even Cov Cath and Lex Cath will struggle to keep up w/ the bigger two.

I'm still hoping some compromise comes about.

Brian Bennett is not only biased for the public schools, he is also a poor student of basic mathematics. His statement that 3 of 209 public schools being "0.01 percent" is shameful for anyone claiming to be somewhat educated- even a "journalist". The percent is actually 1.43541. I thank my good private Catholic school education for my ability to recognize this shamefully elementary error.

We were laughing about the same thing at work. For his .01% to be correct, there would have to be 30,000 public schools in Kentucky.

Lets ride the man for making a mistake in his article .01% instead of putting 1.43541 in he artilce as the percent of public schools that made it to that state finals. Maybe some of you more educated Catholics would like to tell me what percent 5 out of 12 is :sssh: Lets not jump at that to fast now. ;)

Probably got his numbers from Wilson Sears.

Possibly JC Alumni 76 and Mr. Bennett are proponents of KERA where it doesn't matter whether your answer is correct or not as long as you feel good about yourself. Fortunately that philosophy does not exist in private schools. The difference between .01 percent and 1.43541 percent can be devastating in many areas of life including, but not limited to, surgery. Fortunately, Bennett is merely a journalist- most likely the product of a public school. His analysis of the public-private debate was about as thoughtful as was his math.

Nice of you to comment on the situation scooterbob but maybe you can tell me the percent that 5 out of 12 is  I came from a public school and my math probably isnt where it would be if i had went to a catholic school.

JC, the answer is 41.67%.

Now, do I win a prize, or what?

Great Post...this country was not founded on excuses...but on working hard. Several military contests were won with great leaders, great discipline, and look it up....considerable less numbers.

Check....Revoluntionary War

Desert Storm

Iraq War 2

Battle of the Bulge

D-Day

it goes on and on....

I agree with you in principle but I must say that the following could be said of all those situation.

1.Revoluntionary War - A bunch a rich guys didn't want to pay their taxes so instead of working things out they split from their homeland

Desert Storm- The US the richest nation in the world recruits from all the world to put together a force to defeat much weaker country

Iraq War 2- Worked before so we recruit some more allies and do it again.

Battle of the Bulge- American forces were defeated on all fronts except the surronded 101 Airborne who was able to hold on till Patton's third army and more recruits showed up.

D-Day- using overwhelming wealth of men and materials which where deceptively hidden and made to look like they were headed to Northern France, the Recruits from all over the allied world were able to defeat the Germans with overwhelming numbers and wealth. ;)

:p

Ram95 seems to dislike those with wealth. Do you oppose the philosophy that those who work hard usually have and those who don't have not? Possibly you would be happier in Bangladesh. Personally, I'll stay here where hard work and dedication to task produces wealth as well as better football teams. Of course, we should all remember that wealth does not bring happiness. Family is what really matters.
