Russia had this same arguement and is why there was an Iron Curtain. Since the fall of the Soviet Union and the Iron Curtain 20 years ago, I don't see Russia having to defend themselves.

You could also add the invasion of Napoleon in the early 19th century from the West. Russia used the Iron Curtain as a buffer to protect them from the area they had historically been most vulnerable.

Stalin and Lenin were pretty bad, as bad as Hitler IMO. Russia created a buffer, just as Israel needs to do. Let the Palestinians go to Syria, Lebanon, Jordan and live. Same beliefs and ethnic groups.

Solve the Israeli/Palestinian issue. The solution is actually pretty simple. Stop the settlements and withdraw to the 1967 borders.
