Very, very, very minimal chance this would stop the conflict.

You really believe that if they withdraw to 1967 borders they'll simply stop the turmoil?

Scenario (that will never happen, but bear with me):

Israel wises up and withdraws to the 1967 borders in exchange for peace. Palestine acheives internationally recognized statehood. With this major obstacle out of the way, Iran now has no leg to stand on and cannot continue to justify arming Hizbollah in attacks on Israel. Iran's sphere of influence in the Syria/Lebanon arch withers away. Palestinian refugees in the Levant and all over the Middle East can return home, ending the refugee crisis (nearly 1/2 of Jordan is now Palestinian refugees).

 

Sure, it might seem a little rosy, but at our current rate, the problems will only continue to get worse until Iran and Israel end up at war. That's the path we're headed down. And if we do continue down this path, the US will get sucked in and begin fighting another trillion dollar war. One of these days, a president is going to have to stand up to Israel and be firm on the settlement issue, until it happens, we inch closer to a showdown.

So Israel is in the wrong? They are not going to do a Resolution that is threatening to their National Security nor should they.

 

They need to be more realistic about it and refer back to the 2004 resolution when Bush was in office.

I think you need to re-examine the Nazi treatment of the Slavs and the Western states of the USSR. They liquidated just as many in those regions as they did the Jewry of Europe. The difference was that the Soviets weren't placed in camps but murdered by the villages in which they lived.

 

I can actually see co-relation between the Israeli's wanting the "buffer" just as the Soviets did.

I understand way more than you realize. Do you really believe that if Israel gives back land, that Iran will leave Isreal alone. I hope you dont think that, I would like to give you more credit than that. If you give up that much land not only do you make Israel borders unsafe, you show such weakness that IF YOU GIVE A LITTLE THEY WANT MORE AND MORE. Iran along with every other Muslim country will continue to hate Jews and Israel no matter how much land is given back to the PLO. hamas and Hezbolla will only be closer to fire rockets into Israel and the fighting will never stop. I mean it has gone on for years adn will not stop as long as there is a Israel.

You understand what you said there is basically describes what Israeli settlers are doing with their settlements on Palestinian land, right? The only difference is that Israel is not being given the land by Palestine, they're taking it.

No, what I'm saying is that the Palestinian issue is a rallying cry for all Arabs against Israel. If Israel gives the West Bank back completely to the Palestinians, they've cut the legs out from underneath the anti-Israel crowd.
