If you are too large to fit in one seat, should airline charge you for two?

No doubt they should. If you take up two seats, you pay double. Why should the airline suffer because of someone else's problem?

30% of the country is obese. Are they missing out on an untapped market and revenues could actually be higher if they tapped into this market?

This reminds me of an old, old thread on here years ago.

My contention is that they buy 2 or find another mode of transportation. I seem to remember some/many taking me to task for such thinking.

When I buy my ticket I'm buying a set amount of space that my body can reside. That goes straight up to the ceiling and down to the floor. If I've got someone next to me who cannot be contained within the space they bought it doesn't mean I have to forgo some of my space.

I understand both sides totally.

How fat is too fat is my question.

Simple. If they can't keep their body within the arm rests they're too fat. It's not simply a number of pounds - it's body composition.

And what is the "other side?"

Should heavier people be required to purchase two sets to upper level seating in Rupp? They take up two spaces often.

Good question. The only case I could make is that you could get up and stand which you can't do on a plane (even though that's not a very good alternative).

I would argue the same way for Rupp as I do for a plane.

Cold, yes. However, in 90% of the cases only one person made that person excessively large.

Yes^ this has happened to me too many times...Many people should try wearing a thing called deoderant as well:D. It gets hot up there and always smells...The people that sit on the ends pretty much always only have one cheek on the bleached because of someone taking up too much space, it stinks that its like this but also unfair for the people that only get half their seat because someone else is taking up 1 and a half spaces...

Absolutely. No one, and I mean NO ONE, like sitting next to someone they don't know for hours who is literally touching them in their own space. That's completely uncomfortable for other passengers who are already paying way too much money in the first place. And for other arenas/places that you are required to sit where your ticket or voucher says, I think it should be the same way.

I agree 100%... :thumb:

I have zero issues with that.

Totally agree.

In all honesty. When a seat purchase is required if you take up more than one seat then you should have to purchase more than one seat. It's pretty simple to me.
