February 2, 201214 yr Will be doing this burpee workout after a 2 mile run/sprint today. Should be fun... Burpees are one of the best things for you. Good luck Carbs are definitely needed for fuel and I try to get most of mine in the early hours. High Fiber breads, fruits, etc. I just stay away from the starches and candy !!! Those are loaded with sugars and carbs.

High Fiber breads, fruits, etc. I just stay away from the starches and candy !!! Those are loaded with sugars and carbs. And saturated fats. Peanut Butter M&M's used to be one of my favorite "snacks" about a year ago. Look at that DV for Saturated Fats. http://www.fatsecret.com/calories-nutrition/mandms/peanut-butter-mandms
February 2, 201214 yr Depending on how hard you workout carbs may not be a bad thing. I haven't noticed any weight gain or any effects other than feeling like I have more energy, probably due to the carbs/sugar. Yep. definetly need carbs. My # for maintaining is around 150 g. However I am still looking to drop some weight, so I'm at around 100 for a day. I workout 4-5 times a week, so I do need the energy.
February 2, 201214 yr I'm down 6 pounds in 16 days just from reducing caloric intake, cutting out carbs and sugars and doing the Stairmaster for 20 minutes 3-4 times a week. Oh I also hit the heavy bag at the gym for 10 minutes during every workout, that is really helping me lose the "love handles". Feeling great, I am also taking FlaxSeed oil and fish oil pills along with B12 vitamin each day. This has increased my metablolism and given me a lot of energy. My sleep patterns are much better as well. I am now sleeping a solid 6 hours nightly with the help of Melatonin of course. This is a major increase from where I was before, waking up every 4 hours and staying awake for 30-40 minutes each time. Once I get my weight down to where I want it I am going to start lifting a little heavier weight to increase my strength. Why wait on the strength training? Building muscle is an awesome fat burner.

February 2, 201214 yr Author Burpees are one of the best things for you. Good luck Carbs are definitely needed for fuel and I try to get most of mine in the early hours. High Fiber breads, fruits, etc. I just stay away from the starches and candy !!! Those are loaded with sugars and carbs. That's not true. Your body can create what it needs from fat and it's actually probably better at burning fat for energy then it is at processing carbs. I'm talking about processed/refined carbs.

February 2, 201214 yr Author 1lb of muscles burns 50 more calories per day than a pound of fat per Wief.I've lost weight with two methods. 1. killing myself on a tread mill 40-60 mins a day. 2. Strength training with short high intensity cardio workouts mixed in after lifting. #2 is far and away the better method. You will get better, faster, and healthier results.

February 2, 201214 yr Author Could you give a more specific example as to what you do? Monday Squats - Warm up then 2 work sets x 5 reps, 1 work set x 5+ (work set weight is same for all 3 sets) Shoulder Press - Same Pull ups - 3 x 10 BW Tuesday Power Clean - Warm up then 2 work sets x 5 reps, 1 work set x 5+ (work set weight is same for all 3 sets) Dips - Same Thursday Squat - Same as Monday but add 5-10 pounds to your work set weight Bench - Warm up then 2 work sets x 5 reps, 1 work set x 5+ (work set weight is same for all 3 sets) Dips - Same as Tuesday's dips but add 5 pounds to the work set weight Friday Deadlift - Warm up, then 1 work set of 5 Pull ups - 3 x 10 BW Conditioning - I have a list about 10 pages long with different short workouts and should be done after your strength training. Depending on your goals with the squats I woudl advise against doing conditioning the day before squating. An example of a conditioning workout would be... 5 rounds for time 5 DB snatch each arm 5 DB swings 10 Burpees For a workout like this the lower the weight you use on the snatch and swings you could increase the reps. I typically like this one to take around 8-10 mins and to the intensity you need to make sure a trash can is near. Another one I love is.... Run 1 mile rest 3 mins Run 3/4 mile rest 2 mins Run 1/2 mile rest 1 min Run 1/4 mile Each run should be done as fast as you can do it. Some others would be sprints, tabata workouts (20 seconds as fast as you can go, 10 seconds of rest x 8)...you can do tabata with just about anything...rowing, sprints, squats, push ups, pull ups burpees, ect....
February 2, 201214 yr It seems like every time I've opened a fitness magazine or website I read something along the lines of "cardio versus lifting" for fat loss/leaning out. I don't understand why doing both aren't advocated more.
