May 3, 201115 yr I know we have alot of BGP'ers who do some type of fitness program and I was wondering what everyone's were. I have found that if I set a goal to work towards it helps to push me during my workouts. I tend to lose focus and interest if I just go to the gym every day with no real plan. Some of my for example are... Sub 6:00 mile - Did 6:15 this morning Sub 20:00 5K - not sure where I am on this one Sub 8:00 2K row - at 8:30 as of last week Back Squat 250lbs - currently at 225 Deadlift 350lbs - currently at 310 Bench 250lbs - currently at 235 Press 150lbs - currently at 125 Front Squat 185lbs - currently at 150 For anyone that knows what crossfit is I also have a few of the crossfit work outs that I want to complete as well. There are also a few others that I am probably leaving off. I have a list at home that I keep to help keep me focused.
May 3, 201115 yr I don't really have goals like that just general weight loss goals. I am looking to drop 10 pounds by the end of June and 20 by September. I am about to start hitting it hard. I have vacation at the end of June and then my wedding and honeymoon after that. Time to get to work.
May 3, 201115 yr I guess I'm pretty boring in that I just look to maintain. I can't remember the last time I maxed out. But I love competing. I could see myself taking on a challenge so maybe I'll steal some ideas from this thread. What is the crossfit workout you want to complete? Aren't they timed and you see how many of the various exercises you can finish in that time?

I have vacation at the end of June and then my wedding and honeymoon after that. Time to get to work. Me too. I have dropped 18 lbs in 3 mos. Mainly strength training and cardio. My 1st weight goal is about 15 lbs away. Funny thing is I now eat 5 times a day with not much concern for calories. I mainly watch fat and sugar intake. Lot of protein some carbs and veggies. I have one day a week, I can eat whatever I want. I retest Thur. to reevaluate inches, body fat, strength flexibility, and cardio rates.
May 3, 201115 yr I haven't really set any goals like that also. However I am jazzed about doing the half-marathon next year in the Flying Pig. This year was my first experience with the Pig and it was awesome. I did the last leg (Leg 4 - easiest leg no hills) on our relay team. I had a 9:17 mile pace and finished my last mile in 8:53. Other than doing Insanity I didn't really train for it. Four months ago I never even would have thought about doing something like this. But I've lost 35 lbs since New Years and I want to lose about ten more. I do know now that if I want to finish 13.1 miles I'm going to have to prepare. So I'm going to be doing some weekend running along with my Insanity workouts.

I pretty much eat whatever but stay between 1600-1900 calories a day which is a lot harder than I thought it would be. 1 cheat day a week.
May 3, 201115 yr I mainly lift weights and I do a lot of walking when I am at work. Bench Press 200 pounds 4 sets of 10 I benched 290 pounds a month ago. Leg Press 350 pounds 3 sets of 20. Curls 30 pounds 4 sets of 10. Plus I do some other stuff to.
May 3, 201115 yr I kind of do it the opposite. I pretty much eat whatever but stay between 1600-1900 calories a day which is a lot harder than I thought it would be. 1 cheat day a week. I try to stick to 1500 calories a day with the better half of those calories eaten in the morning. And I tried to do a cheat day but man I felt like it was so hard to get back on the diet after a cheat day so I don't do it anymore. Well, I guess I do on Saturday with the beer drinkin.
May 3, 201115 yr I kind of do it the opposite. I pretty much eat whatever but stay between 1600-1900 calories a day which is a lot harder than I thought it would be. 1 cheat day a week. The eating 5 meals was at 1st difficult for me. I used to eat twice. By eating 5 times my body knows that it will be fed and will not store fat. I don't know how many calories I take in, but I would guess 2000-2500. That doesnt count a handfull of almonds or a power bar snack in between. I am extremely pleased with my results so far. Good luck to you.
May 3, 201115 yr The other thing is strength. My weights have all almost doubled in 8 weeks. UK mentioned leg press. I started at 270 5 sets of 12. Last week I did 450 5 sets of 12. I couldn't believe it.
May 3, 201115 yr I'm completed Day 16 of Asylum. My current goal is to finish it, take a recovery week, then possibly repeat it. I may do an Asylum/Insanity hybrid, I haven't decided yet.

Aren't they timed and you see how many of the various exercises you can finish in that time? I try not to do max either, especially with bench. The current max I have listed is based on a program I am currenlty doing. take percentages of your 1 rep max to get your set totals. To answer the your crossfit question, yes. They are certain tasks to either be done as fast as you can (your time being your measure) or fixed number of sets and your weight being your measure. The crossfit main web site, http://www.crossfit.com , posts a work out of the day that many follow. If you are a member of an affiliate gym (which is the best way if you are doing it full time) they noramlly come up with their own WOD. Some examples of work outs I would like to complete as RX'ed... Fran Reps of 21,15,9 95 pound thruster Pullups Meaning you do 3 sets, the first being 21 reps, of thrusters with 95 pounds. You then do 21 pullups. Repeat at 15 reps, then 9 reps. Cindy 5 Pull Ups 10 Push Ups 15 Squats As many rounds as you can in 20 mins Here is a link to all of the girl named WOD's. They also have hero WOD's named after fallen soldiers and law enforcement that are flat out killer work outs. http://www.crossfit.com/cf-info/faq.html#WOD0 Then there are hundreds of other WOD's that aren't named. Here's a link to their main site... http://www.crossfit.com/
May 3, 201115 yr That's pretty intense. I've seen some videos of crossfitters doing workouts online and they've all been barbaric. It makes me want to try a muscle up though. Preferably with no one watching.

I would probably hurt myself bad.
