New Birther Poll

Just as I thought.. Ya got nothing...

What am I supposed to give? His policies are hardly socialist in my opinion. If socialism is nationalization of industry, then I guess the bank buyouts could be considered such, but that process was started under Bush. If socialism is providing healthcare for everyone, then let him be socialist. Because its my opinion that that is something the government should provide. But that's just my opinion.

As for Bill Ayers, I haven't seen his name in a long time. Ayers was a member of Weather Underground, a group Ayers himself said crossed the lines of legality, propriety, and common sense. It appears he has since moved on to become a professor at the University of Chicago and seems to have distanced himself from some of those past actions. I'm not sure it's fair to be blamed for a friendship with someone who caused trouble 40 years ago but no longer does. And I know you'll say "once a terrorist, always a terrorist" but I'm of the notion that people mature a good deal from age 25 to 60.

The Reverend Wright deal has been repeated ad lib and I'm not going to say much about it. I certainly wouldn't have sat in an audience with Wright's style of preaching, but that's just me. Others might not want to hear my preacher. And of course Obama hasn't exactly been a model churchgoer since he's been in Washington, so what makes one think he was a regular parishioner in Chicago? And most birthers claim Obama is a Muslim, and if that is the belief, why would they be concerned about what a Christian preacher is saying?

As for George Soros, one of his claims to fame is a currency speculator who made tons of money in speculation and insider trading. Most Marxists in the birthers view are people who want to take money from the rich and give it to the poor. It appears that Soros wanted to make a ton of money for himself. That doesn't seem very Marxist to me.

So in conclusion, Obama is "anti-American" because he wants to provide healthcare for an entire country that ranks poorly worldwide when it comes to health, he knows a guy who was an anti-war activist (although Obama hasn't exactly show himself to be anti-war), his Christian preacher who he probably heard once or twice a year for a couple decades is loud and dislikes a lot of American policies, which matters doubly because he's a Muslim, and then he knows a guy who is a well-funded financier who presumably made his money in the financial industry?

I don't know, I just don't get it. We can discuss the problems with Obama as president all day long and I'll probably agree with a lot. But I don't think for a minute he's a foreigner, a Muslim, or anti-American. But those are the talking points spouted by conservatives, mostly because they have no other ideas except to "continue the Bush tax cuts." And if those items continue to be the tenants of conservative beliefs, then I suspect their party will not be moving to Pennsylvania Avenue in 2012.

Its a requirement to be President of The United States to be born in the United States, but not to prove it, amazingly. He has never proved it, well, at least not with his "Birth Certificate"

Yet again, if he has nothing to hide, he has no reason to show it. I agree with you, if I had something to hide, I wouldn't show it either.

Well then, there you have it.

Again, I wouldn't produce it for anyone. Why? Because I don't have to.

Let's be clear about what the "birther conspiracy" is. Obama has provided his birth certificate. It's available online with pictures from every angle to show the raised seal, signatures, and certificate number (which were all accusations made by the initial "birthers" about the original photocopied version). It's a perfectly legal document that will prove you to be a citizen of the United States for whatever reason you would need to, whether it would be for getting a passport or, presumably, running for office. The whole birther conspiracy is that this birth certificate is a forgery, that the birth announcements in Hawaii were fraudulently placed, and that a variety of state officials in Hawaii have been complicit in running and covering up this whole thing. There is literally no amount of evidence that will prove to these people that Obama is a natural-born citizen. However, in the eyes of the law, he is.

Somehow I get the idea that you were in favor of the patriot act...

Facts often die in the hands of the blind. What type of subliminal garbage is ran on Fox News? :thumb:

Of course there are those that believe what you say but not for most birthers. The main sticking point for the birthers is the document in the link you provided is not a long form birth certificate created by the hospital when someone is born. While it is a legal document it is not entirely clear on what it takes to get one produced. Please read the link I posted above for a pretty good explanation of why some are holding on to this so much.

I will add that while I don't personally buy into theories like this, if there are American citizens that douby his citizenship he should be required by law to provide a long form birth certificate. He is the birthers commander in chied just as much as yours and he owes it to them to provide the documentation, no matter how crazy they are.

As I've often said, if the President walked on water, about 49% of the population would say "Well, it was heavy water."

LBJ had a great quote about that. Something like if he walked across the Potomac River, the headlines would say president can't swim.
