April 17, 201115 yr Their defense has been pathetic. That's about all there is to say about this game.
April 17, 201115 yr I think we all should have expected the Hornets to be a tougher matchup than the experts predicted. Great PG play always hurts the Lakers, and CP3 is about as good as there is. Okafor is mediocre but he's not a bad post defender. I'll stick with Lakers in 6.
April 18, 201115 yr The refs decide too many playoff games. I'm sure it's the same in the regular season. It really gets exposed in the playoffs though. The FT difference in some games were absurd. The offensive foul call on Melo posting up Pierce with his back to the basket and 20 feet away from the basket was the worst offensive foul call I've ever seen. The NBA could have a good run because of their talent and because College Hoops just had their worst ever Final Four, but they're going to blow it for casual fans because of terrible officiating and a lockoout looming.

I considered it a possibility simply because that is how the Lakers are. Sometimes they have trouble getting motivated. I think they weren't just waiting for the playoffs, I think they were waiting for the conference finals. You're right about the PG. That is a part of the equation, but for an outmanned team like NO, I think the Lakers have to be lethargic for it to matter. You combine an apathetic Laker team with an opponent lead by a PG like Paul and this can happen. You need only to look back to the 7-game series against the Rockets 2-3 years ago when Brooks lit LA up and the series went 7 when the Lakers probably should have won it in 5 at the most. I'm not concerned, at this point, about LA losing the series, but it is disappointing that they aren't ready and taking care of business. It always creates doubt about future matchups, assuming they get by the Hornets. Will they motivated to play Dallas or Portland in the semi-finals? Who knows?

It's as reliable as death and taxes.

I'll add the no call on the offensive interference on OKC that gave them the lead for good against Denver with @ 50 seconds left. Ibaka stuck his hand through the net to tip it in. No call. 2 points.

April 18, 201115 yr Very entertaining weekend of playoff basketball. I'm hoping for more of the same over the next couple of months.
April 18, 201115 yr The Denver-OKC series represents everything I love about this sport. I hope this thing goes seven.
April 18, 201115 yr The NBA is so much better than college basketball its not even funny IMO. :thumb:
April 19, 201115 yr The NBA is so much better than college basketball its not even funny IMO. The talent gap and level of play is astronomical.
