April 14, 201115 yr I still don't know what a Zune is. Find a guy named Jike that lives in Louisville, Kentucky. He'll let you know. I'm pretty sure he is one of only a handful of people that actually own one.
April 14, 201115 yr Not in my experiences but how long before that software is just as "outdated" as your PC? You can guy a new one and have the newest this and that and still be under what a mac cost. There is just no needs for it IMO. Take care of your computer and it will last a while. A PC might work okay for a while, and longer if you take care of it. But it will never be as good as a mac. Plus with a mac you dont have to worry about viruses like you do with a PC.
April 14, 201115 yr I need a computer for the internet and to use Word documents. No reason for me to get a $1500 computer when I can get one for $600. If you have more than basic needs I can understand it but other wise it just doesn't matter all that much IMO. My $1100 mac that I bought around 4-5 years ago runs darn near as good as it did when I bought it. I've never purchased an anti virus program and I've never had a problem out of it.

Plus with a mac you dont have to worry about viruses like you do with a PC. If the Mac ever becomes the dominant platform, you will see the Mac viruses claim change. Another part of the discussion we've had on here before. If you were producing a malicious virus, would you produce it for the system that has 90% of users or the one that has 5%? Believe me though, as someone who has worked on them, they exist. I suspect you do not do the things that would get you a virus on a PC or a Mac. And really, that's the key, don't be stupid on either. I have CHOSEN to use a PC. I have extensively used both, and I despise Macs. It's great that it's your preference, but the statement that a PC will never be as good as a Mac is hardly fact. A PC that costs $900 or lower probably will never be as good as a Mac, because that price range doesn't exist on Macs and therefore the hardware is not exact. Put the same guts in each, you'll get the same results. And really, I can build a more powerful PC dollar for dollar compared to a Mac anyway, so it wouldn't even be the same guts. I'll close with this: no one is ever going to change anyone's mind on this. This is a lightning rod issue, especially since Mac users treat it like a religion.
April 14, 201115 yr I don't treat it like a religion. It's just simple and obvious to me. I've used both. And mac is clearly better...and it's not close. I'll never own another PC... I don't care if anyone else switches over or not, but if my opinion is asked, I'll give it.

April 14, 201115 yr I didn't believe the lady at the Apple Store when she told me that all I had to do is turn on my Mac when I got home and I could do whatever. I was used to all the uploading and protection you have to do for a PC. And I'll echo what everyone says about how their Mac working just as good now as the day they got it. Just a great product.
April 14, 201115 yr 'twill be a cold day when a Mac ever sits in my home. But then, I say that every time this thread comes up. Amen.
April 14, 201115 yr If people bought the PCs that cost the same as Macs, then they wouldn't have a problem. The fact is, they are incapable of offering Macs at the price that they would need to be the same price as many PCs while maintaining their current quality. If you spend dollar for dollar on PC what you would on a Mac, you'll get the same product. I agree, you get exactly what you pay for. Exactly.

Agreed on this point. Mac diehards can be downright insufferable at times. They don't like to talk about the dreaded "rainbow wheel." My work Mac may be much more stable than the PC laptop I have, but some folks act as though Macs never crash or experience random program shutdowns. Trust me, true-believers, they do. Plus, they still haven't figured out CD drives and CD burning technology. Their CD drives and burners are slow compared to what you find in PCs. And why can't I just burn a CD? Why's it gotta be through that stupid iTunes, rendering the CD useless except on another Mac?

Plus with a mac you dont have to worry about viruses like you do with a PC. Because they have only 10% of the market share people don't bother writing viruses for them, it isn't because of some inherent superiority in the software that makes them resistant to viruses. If you know what you are doing you can build a PC without the junk that you get sent with a store bought one for a fraction of the cost of a Mac that will have vastly superior performance and will make a much better gaming platform. Also you can upgrade the hardware on your own. Macs don't offer that, which to me is a massive flaw.

I have a buddy who was at the Savannah School of Art and there were Macs galore on campus. From what he told me the Macs crashed more than the PCs did.

Like stated above, if you bought the same components for a PC you'd get the same performace. Viruses very much exist for MAC and like stated above as well, once MAC's usage increases so will the number of viruses written for them. that claim is solely based on the fact that no one uses them so not many are written for them. They do exist and will become more prominent.

April 14, 201115 yr I have a buddy who was at the Savannah School of Art and there were Macs galore on campus. From what he told me the Macs crashed more than the PCs did. At a school (especially an art school, with graphic design people), I'm guessing they have some older ones, and the older ones can be a nightmare to work with. It is better, b/c you're buying a better product. Like stated above, if you bought the same components for a PC you'd get the same performace. They do exist and will become more prominent. Yup. In our office, folks who use PCs aren't able to open Word files created by or that have passed through the Macs, because the Macs were spreading a virus around. So yeah, Mac users, I'm betting you have viruses. You just don't know about it since it's not evident on your end and are therefore gleefully helping hackers distribute viruses around the globe.
