Scott Eagles to start a youth football program.

Featured Replies

They will be joining the Northern Ky Youth Football Program.

The South Kenton Lions, Bengal Tigers, and Raiders all gave up some territory to help form this new program.

The Raiders board made a very tough decision to make this happen, without their help this could not have happened.

The New Program is working hard to finalize their name and Board Members. Their area will consist of Taylor Mill, Ryland, Ft. Wright, and some of Covington. This program is not run by the school but has the support of the high school coach. Volunteers and parents will be running the new organization.

The NKYFL has been working on expaning the League.

The expansion effort is based on finding programs that are feeding their High School teams.

So where is the border for the Raiders?

Happy to hear this for the Scott football program; something definitely had to be done for them.

So do the Raiders get some of the Spartans or Lions territory?

I say bring back the Taylor Mill Mustangs.

I say bring back the Taylor Mill Mustangs.

I tried to play for them but we didn't have enough players.

That is what they are going to be called..

Why wouldn't they form middle school teams? That seems to be the way the state is going.

I thought they already had a middle school team in Woodland. No?

Woodland has a team.

This, I don't think will help Scott as much as having their own middle school team. With the territory listed above its obvious not all of the kids will attend Scott, and if no Scott coaches are involved it just seems to me that the NKYFL just split up territory to create a new team. This will help the NKYFL more that Scott in my opinion.

Woodland is Scott's middle school and they do have a football team plus they get some kids from Summit View who always has a good football team.

Summit View has been pretty bad for the last 2 seasons, probably the worst of the 6 big programs (Cov Cath, Turkeyfoot, Woodland, CC, and Twenhofel) and most kids in that school played senior ball for the SK Lions in the NKYFL. Woodland wasn't very good last year, but did have a few talented kids...they weren't very deep. 2 years ago, Woodland was very good, and many of that class will see some varsity time this year at Scott.

I still dont understand how this a Scott youth program when they are going to be a NKYFL member which means volunteers will be coaching and not one Scott coach is involved. Also the territory is spread out to different high schools so I guess I just dont see how this is a Scott youth program..For example they have covington territory so in realty most of the kids on this team could be in the Holmes living area.
