It doesn't matter if you said that someone told you that or not .... the mere implication is bogus ... and slanderous not to mention .... a down right insult.

It is the exact same thing as saying that the kids have quit on the season ... and I just don't think that is the truth either.

On a related note ... I am sure that Coach Hicks would be the first person to tell you that he isn't pleased with how things have went during the regular season.

I would also say that Coach Hicks has made his name by getting teams with mediocre records to finish strong in the district/regional tournament.

 

If this team plays uninspired in the district ... and completely burns out ... then you have a case.

Until that point ... there are other areas where you would have more of a valid point.

What staff would "give up on a season" in high school basketball in KY???? It all starts again with 00's on the scoreboard in districts in a week or two??

Coach Hicks has taken some dreadful teams to the regional tournament before. This team has talent. If the light comes on for these kids then they could be dangerous. Coach Hicks has had a way to motivate his teams over the years. I think that once those seven guys who could be playing their last game ever realise it then things could be getting better. But it has to come soon, time is running out......

I just don't think the Cougars have jelled and it may be too late. With that said, Coach Hicks and his excellent staff need to get them motivated to come together and make a run. They have a formidable lineup and once they come around can be good but the clock is ticking on the season.

Let's not make that a requirement or we wouldn't have these discussions on any topic. Then we couldn't have parents on here hyping their kid in third person as if they are not in the next room, there would be no calling out officials by name and bashing their job performance, etc. What would there be to discuss and banter about? :idunno:

It appears at different times that they have different voids that you would think could be filled by someone on that large and talented bench.

Why in the world would you say there is the possibility that the staff has given up on the season? Did Coach Hicks tell you that? If not, you have zero clue what you're talking about and are doing exactly what coaches dislike about message boards such as BGP.

 

In watching Coach Hicks' sideline reactions and emotions during the game at Holy Cross, as well as the intensity displayed by the Asst coaches, especially during Conner's 2nd half comeback, I think one can easily see the coaches have not given up on the season.

Having a good JV team is very overated. If the jayvees were that good they would be starting varsity, Any coach who fealt he needed to bench his 6'8 senior has no problem playing the players who need to play.

I agree what you are saying about a good JV team. The only time a good JV team means anything, is if the Varisty team is an absolute power-house and there is no room for an outstanding underclassman to get PT at the Varsity level. This is VERY seldom the case.

 

Most of the time good JV teams have Juniors playing against the other teams freshmen and sophomores because the other teams better underclassmen are playing varsity. At any school the outstanding Sophomores and Juniors are only playing Varisity (and in some cases, the outstanding freshmen, ie. Hatton)
