I have no idea. They are a losing team vs. an average schedule over 8 years. Maybe there is a lack of talent in Hebron? Doubt it. They should split with Boone and Ryle every year and that has not been happening. I say that Coach M from Boone is the best coach in the county and it's not even close. Look at his record. Look at the record of the other 3 coaches. Just not impressed with what's going on at Conner even if they beat Ryle for the first time in maybe the last 6 games. They should have beaten Ryle every time they played this year because they have more talent IMHO.

 

My two cents FWIW:

 

Ryle has more toughness. Period. That makes a big difference.

 

Ryle's 2 guards are better than Conner's guards.

 

Ryle can get a needed basket out of the post. Conner doesn't seem to be able to.

 

So tell me why they should have beaten them each time.

I saw Conner play Holmes last night. I did NOT think coaching was the problem. They had plenty of opportunities, the kids played hard, the coaches coached hard. Bottom line was, as stated earlier, they missed too many makable shots. Tell me what else do you do. I think the coach is playing the best he thinks he has. Most people understand these are kids, they make mistakes and you try to minimize them. Talent wise Ryle is better than Conner, not significantly but better. Ryle may not beat them in the district because remember these are kids and the talent isn't that much different.

Rating the 4 Boone County Coaches from best to worst cannot be explained by W/L record alone. There are many other factors to consider in my opinion. To say it is not even close is way off base without other facts.

My only agenda would be to see this team be successful. All I know for sure is that they have one heck of a JV team and alot of experience at the varsity level and this team has a losing record. It appears at different times that they have different voids that you would think could be filled by someone on that large and talented bench.

Even in the loss last night Conner looked better. They were moving the ball like a team in the end of the season should. However, Hayes and Gray were not on the court and this would have changed things considerably. Still there was life in the players and the coaches. Obviously no one has given up yet.

Ryle doesn't have a guard better than Jacob Flesch. Ryle rests on Stauffer. Perkins , Mullins, and Vollet are all solid, but in the big games that team goes as Stauffer does. Robinson and Hodges for Conner are not the strong inside force that Vollet and Stauffer are, but provide alot in their own rite. If Hodges, Robinson, and Flesch are all on at once Conner can beat anyone in NKY.

I would have to agree with you HM. Problem is, usually it's only one (maybe two) that are on each night. The others tend to just "disappear" on the court at times. I think Liechty has been playing better as of late, he needs to continue his current ways if this team want to be a threat in 33rd...

Conner is 11-16 with around 5 OT games, a basket here or there and their 16-11 an looking better, but as Coach Hicks says "Ifs and buts..........everyday would be christmas"

However, the games where all 3 have been strong are too few and too far between.

Don't know if I would agree with that statement. Perkins and Mullins have both been instrumental in Ryles second half run. Perkins in particular has been very very good in the past month plus. When I watch Mullins he is very smooth and very athletic. Going to be interesting to watch him next year when it will be "his" team.

 

Flesch is more of a pure pg but Perkins and Mullins are very good as combo guards who can bring the ball up the court and get Ryle into their offense.

 

I think that Ryles advantage over Conner right now is the guard combo of Stinson, Perkins and Mullins

I see where you are coming from, but I think the lack of success by the Conner team as a whole has dimished the perception of the individual players. As has been stated, Conner needs their top three to be on together with some help from Liechty. This hasn't happened very much. When it does, everyone looks better and is attributed with the success.

Yes that was 2006. They were 6-19 going into the post season with NO 9th region wins and won the District. They could very easily win the District this year, you never know!

11-18 and 3rd straight year to be ousted in the first round of districts by Ryle. What a nightmare season.
