Lynch, Tuitt, and Williams are big name DEs, but unless one of their handful of DE recruits swithes positions they needed a DT or two in this class. They better get a monster or two for the Nose sometime in the near future. Three good prospects at DE does not make a team like an SEC team. You need about 6 or 7 or more of these guys to have that kind of depth. Maybe they keep adding on, or maybe these guys don't end up to be as good as advertised or fit the system well at all. I hate making predictions about a football class before they've even started to play a game. It's not like basketball where there is AAU. You have camps and HS games, where most of these guys dominate competition. Not saying these guys are overrated, underrated or rated right, but bragging about a recruiting class before they play a game is kind of like counting chickens before the eggs hatch to me.

They signed a top NT last year...I'm sure you're familiar with him. He redshirted and word is he will be starting next year.

And playing a 3-4, they didn't need 2 more!!!

Read again, I said they need a monster or two at the Nose. Any good 3-4 is going to have a good guy to plug up the A gaps IMO. Look at what Cody did for Bama last year.

You said in this class and they already have one, so they didn't need 2 more!

I didn't see a DT in this class when I looked it up, but it could have been an overcite on my part.

Last year's class had the 350 lb. Nix kid from Florida; this year's does not a NT; they also have Cwynar and H. Williams who have seen playing time on the d-line.

The big thing that makes this class different from highly ranked classes in the past at ND is that they filled an area of need that is essential for a top notch program- the defensive front seven; Weiss had good classes, but they weren't in areas where ND needed the help; this class is unbelievably deep now in the defensive front 7 going about 3 deep at every position with top-notch players.

I don't expect all the freshmen to be huge impact players this year, but a few will- Lynch, Tuitt, & Williams; the others you will see in 2 years making an impact.

I forgot that they signed Nix last year, but I think the jury is still out on him.

Nix redshirted but it has been reported he played great in bowl practice and is a shoe in to start next year.

ND will have a tough defense!

I'm talking about his rep coming in.

The only thing I heard about was that he was possibly lazy since he came in overwieght. Any insight toward his rep?

Just always heard he was lazy and had a bad attitude. No real info, just the rumor. However, I don't think BK allows his players to be lazy so it may be a non-issue.

I was talking with a friend of mine the other day who knows a lot more about ND then I do and he was telling me he has heard that Hendrix and Golson (the freshman) are the early favorites for the starting job.
