Let's hope a certain Democratic State Senator from down Paintville way isn't able to get a bill he filed passed into law, because if he does, Johnson Central vs Highlands matchups will be a thing of the past. From what I understand (and I may be mistaken; it's Senate Bill 74 I believe if some one has the time to look into it), it will force the KHSAA to count all male athletes in a school even if they aren't, by the school's own rules, eligible to play which would move JC into 5A if the bill becomes law (most schools are lobbying the KHSAA not to include ineligible males in alternative programs in the student count because they don't want to be pushed up into a higher classification) and another part of the bill as I understand it would prevent the KHSAA from placing a school in a class if it would result in that school having to travel more than 150 miles for a regional championship game (perhaps coincidentally, Highlands is approximately 170-180 miles from Paintsville I'm told). I hope it doesn't pass; I've enjoyed the games regardless of whether they've arisen to rivalry status or not.

It is nice to see elected officials working so diligent. You would think this state has no pressing issues 'Unemployment or Unequal distribution of tax dollars for schools. This Senator is probably working on a new school for this district now.

You lived up to your own quote. JC didn't HAVE to count anything. JC has CHOSEN to change the way they report data to the state. Be sure your facts are straight. The decision on how and whom to report was SOLELY the district choice.

If we add an amendment prohibiting "blind draw" seeding for district tournaments (obviously not for football), maybe some additional support could be garnered. That seems like an emergency as well.

It's on there nearly complete now. You can add St. Thomas More (Ontario, Canada) on there for the Sept 9th weekend, as I understand it, as a home game, but not sure yet if that's Fri or Sat. The other nine games are confirmed.

It was brought to my attention this week that Johnson Central's opener is against Heath on Aug. 20. Heath was 0-10 last season and has a new coach. How in the world, or should I ask why in the world, is that game being played?

To add to that: Heath is in Paducah, a full 371 miles and 6 hours (according to Mapquest) from Paintsville. That's a long trip.

I'm assuming that Heath is to be compensated handsomely for the long trip and beatdown.

I too would like to know and I would love to know how much they are going to pay Heath for their troubles. My guess is alot, enough for Heath to not feel to badly after 4 quarters of Jude running in a running clock game

Johnson Central is comical. They should be embarrased for playing a team like Heath, especially when there were teams like Ryle that they turned down. There is no wonder they are trying to get out of AAAA. The way they are operating their program will never lead to defeating Highlands.
