What are they losing from this years team?

#45 - I think his name is Braddock. He was an absolute beast on both sides of the ball. I know Jude set all sorts of rushing records last year but for my $$, #45 was just as valuable as Jude and will be very difficult to replace.

#42 Bratton FB/LB

Sorry .. Bratton was all over the field and will be missed by Coach Matney.

JC will be just fine without Bratton. They will reload and they know the State Championship runs through Ft Thomas so they will take care of business as usual. I for one look forward again to the State's newest best playoff rivarly and cant wait for the JC folks to come to Ft Thomas for a little funnin. Just kiddin, we will roll out the "Blue" carpet just like they did for us, Class Act and very proud community, this of course to the contrary that a certain good ole BGPer suggested. Go Birds - Drive for Five!!!!!!!

It hasn't been much of a "rivlary".....

How do you figure? Played each other in the third round of the playoffs for the last 3 years, with last year's game coming down to the last minute and a half, with JC driving for at least a game-tying touchdown.

Last year's HHS-JC playoff game in Paintsville was a thriller. Although it hasn't approached Hatfield v. McCoy intensity yet, I think the battles from the last couple of years qualifies as a rivalry. I agree with BGBird.

Let's hope a certain Democratic State Senator from down Paintville way isn't able to get a bill he filed passed into law, because if he does, Johnson Central vs Highlands matchups will be a thing of the past. From what I understand (and I may be mistaken; it's Senate Bill 74 I believe if some one has the time to look into it), it will force the KHSAA to count all male athletes in a school even if they aren't, by the school's own rules, eligible to play which would move JC into 5A if the bill becomes law (most schools are lobbying the KHSAA not to include ineligible males in alternative programs in the student count because they don't want to be pushed up into a higher classification) and another part of the bill as I understand it would prevent the KHSAA from placing a school in a class if it would result in that school having to travel more than 150 miles for a regional championship game (perhaps coincidentally, Highlands is approximately 170-180 miles from Paintsville I'm told). I hope it doesn't pass; I've enjoyed the games regardless of whether they've arisen to rivalry status or not.

I found a link: http://www.lrc.ky.gov/record/11RS/SB74.htm. Open it up and then click on SB74 and it takes you to the proposed language.

Wow!

I, for one, am happy to see the State Senator pouring his energy into the most pressing issues the state is dealing with!

WOW!!! That is soooo weak if it's true! And if it's posted on BGP, then it's like money in the bank. JC should really be embarrassed by this. Really???

Perhaps this lawmaker could spend more time trying to build a new road between Ft Thomas and Paintsville that would measure say 149 miles in distance.

And besides, Highlands folks have been accused of traveling alternate routes thru states like WVA just to avoid certain areas,LOL. Maybe those routes really are shorter. Would alternate routes count? Go Birds DF5

Glad to see it's considered an emergency.

If one team wins every game, that is not a rivalry...
