I am amazed that there are 4 schools from the 9th region ranked in this top 25.

 

Why?

 

Dixie is legit and have beat some very good nky teams. They will be showcased in the Toyota Classic in about 2 weeks, and honestly might still be undefeated then.

 

Covcath has just two losses...to #1 Ballard and #5 Lexcath. They also beat #10 Henry Clay by 10 on a neutral floor.

 

Boone Co is debatable because of their "bad" losses to Fern Creek and Campbell Co, but they were extremely competitive with #3 Eastern and #8 Trinity, losing by 7 and 8 points.

 

Holmes has lost three games by a combined 7 points. One of those losses is a 4 point loss to #1 Ballard...Ballard's closest margin to date. They do have the blowout loss to Moore, but Holmes game against Ballard the following night showed that they can compete with and beat any team in the state.

 

All 4 of these teams are legit top 25 teams, IMO. Dixie and Covcath are the two most legit in the 9th, but Holmes and Boone Co are no slouches.

Fern Creek is solid and has very good depth. I was impressed with them when I saw them in the LMI. I do think they'd struggle in the 9th though because of the slow down pace.

I understand Dixie is Undefeated, so they deserve a spot in the top 25. But number 11 seems awfully high for a team that hasn't played anyone in the top 25 yet.

I don't no Westsider. If you have a losing record no matter who you have played. And what players you have on the court. And it doesn't matter how much talent is on the team. IF you don't produce wins. I just don't see how you can rank them as high as they are. Do you give a team a high ranking just because of the talent on the team? Or wins and losses.

Just to be clear. It was not the same Campbell County team. The Camels were down two starters against CovCath.

My question is why does basketball season begin before football season ends? If the state football finals are the first weekend in December, then basketball shouldn't start until the following Monday (just like basketball and baseball do in the spring). That would eliminate the need for players to either miss games or have to play two sports on the same day, which can't be easy.

Dixie is a very good team, regardless of who they've played. They have great guards in Hatton and Trammel. They have a versatile forward in 6'5 Parker Stansberry. They have an exceptional big man in 6'5 Zeke Pike, and they also have several role players that would could possibly start at other schools in nky or around the state in Hassel and Cohorn.

 

Dixie's biggest weakness is their depth, but 1-5 they're as good as they come.

I hear what your saying Westsider. And I don't doubt what you are saying. But when someone looks at the standings. And you see a team with a losing record. And they are ranked in the top 15. It raises questions as to which maybe their was a mistake in the record. But there seems to be a different thinking in basketball vs football. If a football team was 2-2. And ranked #2, 3 or 4. And others had a lot better records. People woud be screaming on here about why they wern't ranked higher. I realize now that they have played a brutal schedule. But at the same time in football our best team in the state played a weak schedule. But was still no doubt the best team in the state in 1A. And if they had the best kids out because of this or that and was losing. No matter by who and by how many points. There would be some fits thrown. I'm sure in march Christian Co will be big in the regional and state tourny. It's just hard to see a team with a losing record one of our best in the state. No matter the excuses. And you may get a few other kids out to play another sport. Some good talented kids I'm sure are lost by one sport or another because of the pressures put on them. Just because the seasons run so close together. ect. ect.

Christian Co has a very talented team regardless where they're rated. You can't go by wins and losses to rate teams. Some schools win them all and play no one and others play a tough schedule and win half of their games. Ratings don't amount to much IMO. Just something to talk and argue about .

But isn't it how good you are right now and not how good you will be???? Or how good we think they are going to be!

I wouldn't necessarily argue Dixie being above Cov Cath in polls - Dixie is undefeated and has a few solid victories over some good teams, after all. But I'd still say that #11 is awfully generous - particularly with them tallying one of their W's via a 2OT squeaker over an unranked Montgomery County squad.

If wins and losses are all that counts, the Class 3A state champion in football wouldn't have been ranked all season. Rankings are much, much more than wins and losses. If three of their six losses were close losses to the Lakers, Heat, and Celtics, would they still be a bad team? I think not. I think win-loss record is the most over-rated aspect of rankings and it's why the AP Polls are consistently a joke because that's all the voters look at
