Pitt fires new coach Mike Haywood

PITTSBURGH -- Pittsburgh fired football coach Mike Haywood on Saturday, saying he could not continue in the job he held for only 21/2 weeks because of his arrest on a domestic violence charge.

How ironic. Someone associated with football in Pittsburgh charged with domestic violence. Perhaps with this on his resume he is now qualified to work for the Steelers.

If I'm Pitt I play this one a little slower. I'd wait to see what Michigan does, and then I'd go from there. My candidates would be Rich Rod, Brady Hoke, and if I'm forced to take him....Mike Leach.

I feel all 3 would be extremely successful there. If Hoke can't get RR's job at Michigan, I think he'd be game for coming back out east for a pay raise. Pitt is going to have to be willing to pay more than what they paid Haywood though for him. But RR and Leach they could get on the cheap IMO because of their baggage.
