San Diego Chargers = most underachieving team.

Has been the case for a while.

I'm just curious if Palmer's problems have been the receivers all season, then why hasn't this crack coaching staff stepped in and corrected things, or at least defended their franchise QB? Also curious why this same staff always seems to "find" players like Simpson, Adkins, Dunlap, Caldwell, etc. late in another hopeless season, when they're forced to play them due to injury to the so-called starters? 15 games, 4 pre-season games and multiple weeks of training camp, mini-camps, etc. and they're just finding out these kids can play??

The coaches and even players have defended Carson all year long. I think I only remember one week, where Marvin even said that the QB needs to play better than he did that day. Other than that, they have been saying all year that Carson is fine, and the same as always. Its other things for their struggles, so they actually have defended him, and now I think we see why.

Palmer played awesome today. He was accurate and had the right power on his throws. Wish he played like this all year. Bengals fans were very excited and cold.

There looks like there might have been a reason for that. As I said its amazing how much better a QB looks when receivers are in the right spots, and are catching the ball. It has only been two weeks, but Palmer and these youngs guys have looked good together. Next week will be a good test for them to end the year against the Ravens defense.

You hit the nail on the head. This is the typical end of a bad season that keeps the hope that maybe the team is not as bad as it's record. This is the worst thing that can happen to this franchise in that the team actually looked like they knew what they were doing today. We can only hope that they clean house with the oc and the head coach and start fresh with a new philosophy. We all know that Mike Brown is not changing things on his end and a couple of wins just gives him fuel for his management philosophy.
I agree 100%!

I also find it interesting that now that the Bengals have won a couple of games the blame is mostly on TO and Chad? lol! After most on here have agreed in the past that the coaching along with their game and clock management were to blame, and to an extent Mike Brown. As AZ Living stated, this will only give Mike Brown what he needs, to prove once again that his way of doing things are starting to work and once again will point to the improvements and next season.

We have seen it before, teams somehow upset teams they shouldn't beat, as well as play spoilers at the end of a season, but as was stated SD knew their fate at halftime anyway.

Two or three weeks do not make a season.

I really hope Lewis doesn't come back, but I also know that they probably won't do much better. Their best chance is to get lucky on a young guy. The last two weeks do nothing for me as far as how bad Marvin is at game and clock management.

I said it when they signed Owens that he would ruin their season. The combination of Owens and Johnson was a terrible idea. Sooner or later people will realize how important chemistry is and those two together had the potential to destroy any and all chemistry. It's not an accident that both of them were inactive yesterday and the Bengals played their best offensive game of the season.

Peter King says if the Bengals release Chad that the Pats would be a likely suitor.

It has been said many times that Belicheck and Ocho hit it off at the Pro Bowl, it might be a good fit for him.

Guess that means Brady will be terrible next season.

What no one has mentioned is that Palmer had all the time he wanted to throw the ball. He mentioned this in his interview and praised the line for giving him time to go through his reads. Two games in a row with no sacks allowed. That has some bearing on the wins also.

Well when he didn't have time to throw that was just a bad excuse.

Not this crap again. My goodness, One good game out of 15 and all his troubles are fixed. I am officially out of the Palmer bashing/worship threads on here.

If Palmer threw a pick 6 in this game, Im sure there would have been a thread on this game already. I wonder if people are starting to believe what me and SSC have been saying. That is the receivers did play a big part in Palmers struggles. Yes Palmer has made plenty of his own mistakes, however I think as we have seen the last two weeks. The receivers also played a big part in it. I don't think its a coincidence that Palmer has looked pretty good the last two weeks with the young guys playing. Its amazing what happens when people catches passes and are in the right spots. Not to mention the Chargers were the #1 ranked defense in the NFL.

Palmer 16 of 21 for 269 and 4 touchdowns. He had a near perfect passing rating of 157.2.

I don't really get much in to these threads, but I think games like this one is what frustrates people. Too many peaks and valleys.
