Did I say I had a problem with Josh Harris? Nope. Josh Harris is an excellent player and deserves what he got. I said I wondered why another player who had excellent numbers as a linebacker and didn't even get an honorable mention. BTW - the stats are the only objective measure of performance.

 

His coach may have not promoted the young man to get the recognition needed to receive honorable mention. Just a thought.

The recognition is nice. Congrats to those mentioned. As far as Highlands, being named to an all state list is very far down the list for what the kids are striving for. Probably not on the list at all.

Josh absolutely deserves it. I would have named him "Athlete" like Flo Hardin from Ballard. Josh is an excellent running back and kick returner also. Obviously a valuable player. Naming him as linebacker ignores his other accomplishments.

Congratulation to all those selected. I'm not sure of the selection process, but some of these kids I have never heard of or seen on the college recruit circuit. I'm sure they performed very well throughout there season and put up productive numbers, and I am most definitely positive that there are others that could easily be on 1st team, 2nd team and honorable mention as well. Not everyone can be seen by all of the members selecting so how can you really determine this. Some of the names mentioned that has received DI offers should be proud of that accomplishment because it will get them a lot more than a CJ All State team selection. I bet anyone on that 1st team that does not have an offer would trade their spot for a full ride to a DI program.

Clyde my man you do talk in circles. I will try to keep this simple. The 1st team player listed as an athlete is Flo Hardin. Flo was listed under the defensive catagory. He is a very good football player. Jon Davis listed as 2nd team athlete was listed on offense. Why? If you want to compare stats, productivity and/or college potential there is no comparison. Jon would rank higher in all of the above. Defenses schemed for him. He did not have DeVonte Parker there to attrack double teams. Ask any team that Jon played against. I'm guessing that he could start and produce for any one of them. I hope that this addresses your many criteria.

Not really. One kid not on the list at all missed the first two games due to illness, played middle linebacker, lead his team in tackles per games played, was second in tackles for his team despite missing two games. He had two interceptions with one returned for a TD. Another linebacker on his team with less tackles per game and also two interceptions but neither returned for a TD made 1st string all state on this list.

 

Maybe they ran away from the lb that made All-State or doubled him and ran to the one you are pulling for?

No qb made first team but Mayfield's Luke Guhy is the 2nd team qb. Mayfield is very well represented. KIngston first team all state is great and Jackson is the only sophmore on the first or second team. Several Card HM's as well.

No one can be upset with the C-J for who was picked. It was a coaches poll.

 

There was a first team QB, that apparently from the comments here on the board, more coaches saw and found deserving, than members of BGP.
