They are a top 5 team in the country still IMO. They are definitely the best one loss team out there, and given a chance to play could beat Auburn, and we already know they could beat Oregon.

The issue is not COULD they beat AU or Oregon. Lots of teams COULD in a one-game series. The only real question is have they EARNED it.

IMO that answer , even before the loss to Nevada, was no.

Exactly. TCU and Boise are good teams and good stories but give them Bama's schedule this year and they also have 3 losses if not more. The Boise supporters don't answer that issue though.

How do you know that for FACT? You don't. It's your opinion.

This stuff will never be settled without a playoff.

It's ignorant to act like Boise has not always problem for any team they match up with the last few years. Spin that however you want to. And stop with the crybaby, "you're an expert" crap. Alot of people on here talk like that, yourself included. So quit with that garbage. I never claimed to be an expert and that is the most tired line on here. But Oklahoma, Oregon, Oregon State, and TCU would beg to differ with you on this one. Sure TCU won one of the two matchups, but the game they won was by 1 point which is giving them all they wanted.

Never said they wouldn't be a problem team for anyone so no spin here. If it makes you feel better to call me a crybaby then have it. The fact is you dismiss my opinion by saying I don't know anything about college football and it's not the first time. The FACT is Boise played a garbage schedule and even if they had beaten Nevada they never deserved to play for the title. You know what the difference between Boise's win last year and TCU's win the year before? Nothing, they were both wins and neither was this year.

How is that any different than what you said to me? "the sad part is you actually believe that". That's not any different man, it may be packaged nicer but I took it that way which is why I said that.

I had heard that BSU could land in the Humanitarian Bowl and I hope to goodness that isn't true. It is pretty amazing that everyone roots for the little guy during March Madness but they seem to be the black sheep when it comes to football. I know the horse is nothing but bones by now but a playoff would be unreal.

I love Boise- but I wasn't rooting for them out of pure fandom. We need the BCS blown to bits and one way to do that is to get the little guys taking some of the BCS dough from the big boys. TCU in the title game and Boise in the Rose Bowl could have been a catalyst for change. Now, when do we get the playoff we deserve? To see the posts here, I did not realize folks wanted to see Boise lose this bad. This delays a playoff even longer. Whether Boise or TCU deserve the title game over a one loss team in a big conference is irrelevant to the facts that:

1. The non AQ teams are simply playing the system the best they can; they did not ask for the BCS and

2. If we don't have an event to trigger change in the system, we will never get a playoff; the only reason the BCS looks the way it does now is because the AQ commissioners were reacting to events in past years that forced change.

If you want a playoff, why root against Boise? I was rooting for a Boise vs. TCU title game!

Boise has a great football team. Their schedule is weak, as noted. But, it is difficult to keep going undefeated even if you only play 3 good teams a year. And, that's the argument. It is so hard for team's in major conferences to go undefeated because they're consistently playing quality opponents. You get a decent, middle of the pack SEC, Big Ten or Big 12 team sandwiched between two big games and that is a dangerous opponent. You get a solid opponent coming off a bye week after you've just had a tough game...that's a dangerous game. Boise doesn't have to deal with those things.

Boise also doesn't have to deal with pressure of big games on a consistent basis like major conference teams do. I can't help but wonder if it go to them a little in this one. This is the first time that they've had a serious and legit shot at crashing the BCS party and they lost to a decent, but not great football team. Previously, they've been playing with house money...even in the upset of OU, they were an underdog that could play with nothing to lose. That wasn't the case vs. Nevada.

Those are the things Boise never has to deal with that make them less deserving to be in the big game. Whether it is their fault or not, it is what it is. The college football system is a complete and total joke. I really don't care who gets crowned by the BCS. It means next to nothing to me. I just hope they can at least give us a few decent matchups for the new year.

Boise or TCU making the title game would have been the absolute worst scenario for anyone wanting a playoff. All that event would trigger is another "fact" for BCS supporters to throw out...look, it works, even the Boise's of the world can get in the big game.

The best scenario would be for a repeat of Auburn's undefeated season when they were left out of the title game. I wish the winner of every major conference would finish undefeated for the next decade.

If BCS AQ teams keep getting the money from the system that they are getting now, the system won't change any time soon. Boise and TCU or any other non AQ team cutting into that pie would be a catalyst. The BCS leaders are conference commissioners for the AQ conferences. They would never say Boise in the title game is a good thing. They lose some of the title game money when Boise or TCU crash the party. They can't go back to their conference coaches and AD's and presidents and tout Boise crashing the party as a good thing because those folks would riot and push for a playoff.

Just my two cents...

5 Wide made some great points in two posts- let me just say:

1. I agree that leaving out AQ teams from the BCS title game that are undefeated would be a catalyst for change also and

2. While Boise doesn't have the same pressures as an Alabama or Auburn in the SEC, they play knowing that they can't lose a game- period. There is no way a 1 loss Boise makes a title game. They know they have 3-4 games they must win no matter what and the other 8 games they must win by 4 touchdowns- no lackluster performances against a UK team or a Georgia or a Clemson team that finished 6-6 because then you still can't get in.

The BCS is awful because it forces us to have these debates- let's get a playoff. Everyone needs to read Dan Wetzel's (sp.) book " Death to the BCS". It can be done sooner rather than later.

:thumb::thumb: Well said. Before Saturday night I believe that Boise and TCU had lost one game each in the past three years. Guess who they lost to? Each other :D. I don't care who you are or what conference one is in, any team that can go unbeaten for a couple of years plus can play football and can (and have) play with anyone. Some people just do not/will not want to admit that a team from a lesser confrence can possibly challenge and/or beat on of the big boys.

I am an Ohio State and a SEC/Big10/Big12, etc. football fan but to be so arrogant to think that a team that may not play as tough of schedule than my team couldn't possibly be as good or better is just crazy.

Boise got beat so they don't deserve to play for the NC. Boise imo is still easily a top 10 football team, no question in my mind.

People also will go on saying that since a team from a power conference that may have one loss that they deserve a shot over some others that are unbeaten bc they play in a super tough conference. I say guess what? No one owes you anything, you lost and have no one to blame but yourself. Want to leave no doubt about it ? Play better.
