Davis isn't faster than Colosimo and he isn't stronger than Brilz

 

He is faster than Colosimo! and he is stronger than Brilz. You would be surprised at who some of the stronger players are and which one's need to get in the weightroom. For some, playing other sports limits their time in the WR while the others have been hitting it for months. I totally advocate playing all other sports, but it typically means 5 less months of weights & FB conditioning and ya can't make up the time lost in the WR...IMO.

 

Brilz and Bradley are probably the two options at center.

 

Bradley's natural position is center and he's very good, but I would never move him from the middle of D-line. Hopefully no one needs to go both ways on the line again this year. Right now at center, I think it will be Lawless, Brilz, and then Bradley in that order.

 

Like Bartels and James stated "Thank You for Your Support". Colosimo might be faster straight running but I expect Davis to do much better scrambling and making some serious yards.

 

Well, when the stands are not big enough to accomodate every one it makes it a little harder, i am quite sure that there will be NO chain gang from Beechwood, or anybody that is not a coach on the sidelines at MHS the next time Beechwood goes to MHS !! lol

 

Plenty of room in the Beechwood reserved seating section! ;-)

Well, considering this thread is pushing 4,000 views and the state title thread just reached 1,000, you need something to do.

Crunch, what makes you think Mayfield can't win a title in 11 or 12?

Is it because you think Beechwood has those wrapped up? I recall getting on BGP's after the 08 season and the Beechwood faithfull proclaiming that the incomming team was a special bunch and that they were the team to beat in the forcomming season and seasons. I think the jury is very much out on Beechwood and state titles. Not saying it won't happen, just that Beechwood is in a little lull. If Mayfields line and QB come together sometime next year they will be right in the thick of it and I guarrantee they will be be one or the solid favorite for 12.

 

Sorry Snake..I didn't mean how you read it and I can see why after reading it again. I meant "very doubtful you will lose tomorrow"...not 11 or 12. I can't think that far out to comment on 12.

 

BW will lose a load after next season so no way I will comment on '12.

I really wish these 2 were on different sides of the state. They're both, by far, the most storied programs in 1a and they've already had a couple of awesome championship battles, especially the 95 game. They don't get much better than that and the 2002 game may not have been as much fireworks and offense, but, it was also a heck of a HS football game that could have gone either way. I could see this developing into another Mfd/Danville type rivalry like back in the 80s and 90s. Classic matchups...It just seems to be much more exciting in a state championship atmosphere on a neutral site than a semifinal game on someones homefield...With 1a coming down to 32 teams, I think you'll see alot of these 2 teams taking home the hardware...

They are ... but because we're so watered-down with six classes and because of some interesting geography, they're on the same side of the bracket.

Come on TP...47 yards on 10 carries in the 1st half against what is arguably the greatest 1A team ever assembled, with potentially the best MLB in MF history, is not too bad

 

If I read correctly, MF had 367 rushing yards last year and 105 this year (probably 3/4 of those on the final 2 drives) against a pretty small inexperienced defense. Do you stand behind the post from another MF fan that you guys are "wayyyy" better than last year? No way! Shelton was a one-man wrecking crew last year.

 

Vocke was hyped and you were disapointed because he looked average, but BW fans know he's better. Jackson was hyped and I for one was disappointed because I was looking for a kid cutout of Shelton's mold, but MF fans know he's better. Peyton Manning looked less than average against SD 2 days ago and he's a HOF'er. Neither kid is an average HS player so we can stop saying that...

 

Bottomline: MF did what good teams do and that was capitalize on mistakes and forced BW into being one-dimensional with their less-than capable passing game. BW shtudown the running game, but wasn't able to contain your speed & experience with our secondary which all BW fans know has been an achilles heel against good QB's.

 

We can do all the would've/could've/should've's we want, but in the end BW didn't rise to the occasion and didn't seem to have that fire in their gut like the NCC and FF games. Intimidated? I don't think so, but perhaps. IMO, MF wins 2 out of 3 times if it's best-of-three...But, we just don't have that luxury.

 

I hope like heck you get your doors blown off again this year, but with so much senior leadership/experience at pretty much every key position like LCA had last year...I just don't see it happening again this year.

Congrats Cards on your big win but to say they are the greatest Class A team ever I would have to disagree with you on that one. Beechwood had some great teams in 91 and 97. Before that Pikeville back in the late 80's when they won three straight probably could have beat anyone. From what I have been hearing this Mayfield team is in the top 5 though.

Now, now TP ... don't take qs' pre-game hype as fact and use it against him. Maybe he does believe that ... but I doubt it. I think he was just playing a "rookie57" with some of those comments.
