Is this the perfect storm for the Raiders to knock off Trinity?

Ryle should just thank their blessings that they at least made the semi-finals before they had to play this semi-pro team from Trinity. There is no one who is going to stop this group of Rocks. The sad part about this is that all the true major 6A contending teams were all in the east side of the bracket. This 6A state championship game will be a total afterthought unless Trinity plays strictly their freshmen team (and even then they would be the favorite to win it all).

Terrible weather, team illness, and a broken down bus are opponents best chances...

NO way.... the Rocks will not be caught with their heads in the sand this year. I firmly believe they are studying and taking Ryle very seriously.

It's playoffs... That should be enough.

And Staff. And preparation. And team.

From what I hear, the Thanksgiving Breakfast will prepare you for anything.

One of the toughest decisions in preparation for any endeavor is when is enough preparation enough. I have heard Coach Beatty speak many times about the willingness to prepare. When the coaches believe that they have learned all they can from watching film, how many more times will they watch it? When a scout team player is bone tired at the end of practice, will he push himself and the starter accross the line from him to put out maximum effort on that last play? Will the players and coaches continue to review everything they do to look for ways to improve? The big danger for Trinity is to embrace success and assume that they can just repeat what they have done in the past with th same result. Perphaps Coach Beatty's biggest strength is that he never accepts the status quo as "good enough". He is always looking for a way to improve and insisting that everyone else do the same. That willingness to prepare is what will carry Trinity Friday night.

Better question should be when will next KY team beat Trinity or X for that matter?

Here is the perfect storm scenario I have seen this year:

Trinity loses the 2009 State Championship to St. Xavier which reinvigorated Coach Beatty and the Shamrocks from any complaicency or resting on their laurels they may have experienced from the 2005 - 2008 run. This combined with the best Trinity squaud ever to suit up for the Shamrocks only to be surpassed by next years squad and you have the perfect storm.

^ Alan60 is on to something. While I am not sure if they are our best squad or not. Very few were contributors on our last title team. Plus, we got pantsed last year in BG by X. While that demon has been exorcised, there is work yet to do. I expect Beatty to amp it up even more over the next three days. At this point the kids can see the light at the end. It's almost over. I don't expect a hangover. Maybe that's hope.

The Rocks take every team they meet very serioiusly and with the utmost respect. Would not expect anything less of them.

Everyone knows that Trinity is a heavy favorite this game. With that in mind, if any onf the three remaining were to beat Trinity, I believe that the team with the best chance is Ryle. Two things that could give Ryle more of an advantage than 2006 is that this Ryle team is more talented and has more of a diverse offense than the last meeting as well. Ryle could also hold somewhat of an advantage due to the game being in Union. This is one of Trinity's younger teams, but I don't believe that their youth will be a problem.

 

For Trinity to gurad against a letdown, I would say they just need to do what they usually do, play great for four quarters and keep the opposing offense off the field. With saying that, I don't look for as much of a blowout as many are anticipating. This is not the same Ryle team they faced four years ago.
