What size is the field at the SK facility?

 

I'd imagine if you can justify use for all activities including PE the money is available in some areas of the state.

Knox Central, Corbin, Trinity are others that I know of.

 

Trinity has no indoor facility. Let's not let that be used as another reason for jealosy. The Rocks spent 2 and a half hours in the cold rain, under the lights yesterday.

Henry Co. has a indoor practice area. I believe the turf came from the Tennessee Titans old turf. It looks good.

I think it was all funded by the Kenton County School Board. The funny thing is they could have rented out pleasure isle indoor soccer field if they needed to it is only 3 miles down the street from school.

 

If they rented out Pleasure Isle, then they wouldn't be able to field a team as everyone would be on crutches. That is the WORST indoor field I have ever seen. The turf was sewn together and rolled out, and that's it. There are air pockets all over and visible seams. Every time I've been down there when teenagers/adults are playing on the field, someone was getting carried off with a leg injury. Be thankful that they don't rent it out.

I'm there every Saturday on the field, and it's crappy.

SK's practice facility was funded by the allowance given to each of the 3 highschools to upgrade their athletic facilities. Dixie received theirs first because their facilities were oldest they chose to do other things with their money like that great looking sports complex they have now. Scott HS is in the first phase of their rentovations and I have heard that they are going to add an indoor facility in a future phase. The Scott HS thing is only a rumor, I have no inside connection to confirm this.

The Mercer complex is all sports. Which means that when spring sports start the football teams has to schedule around those sports. During football season the other sports schedule around football.

And it is awful for practicing in. Of course we went to Sports of All Sorts, but nothing ever got done when we did this.

Either Russellville or Franklin-Simpson just got one.

It's an extremely handy thing to have not only during inclement weather but also during the hot, preseason days when many teams were forced to cancel practices due to heat.

Somerset's field house had one of the first indoor practice areas I know of (opened in 70's or early 80's). When it first opened it was just dirt for years, once you got moving around it looked like Pigpen walking, the dirt cloud was almost impossible to see through. Later turf was installed. Not sure how much they ever really practiced in it, but for the past several years the "Turf Room" has been converted to the weights and conditioning room. With weights and other equipment most they could do in there now is a walk through.

I was thinking something similar. It seems like with the right design it could be used by many groups for many different activities.

That's key, especially when applying for grants. At some point an elevated walking track will be installed making the facility user friendly for the community also.
