Trinity 48 Manual 13

Featured Replies

Well running off tackle on fourth down is not tryin to run up the score. Fourth and fifteen to be exact. If they were trying to score I'm sure they would have thrown the ball instead. Read the article in the CJ and I'm sure you'll agree just like both Manual's head coach and Coach Beatty.

After a 3rd down run Trinity calls timeout with 26 seconds left and runs a play for a TD, the play is called back for holding and Trinity runs another play for a TD and scores with 10 seconds left. After the game When everyone is shaking hands, both AD's went onto the field to make sure the kids kept their cool. Beatty goes up to the Manual AD and puts out his hand and the Manual AD won't shake his hand. At this point Beatty goes nuts and starts screaming to get off his field. A police officer steps between them and the Trinity AD has to take Beatty off the field and talk to him. The Trinity AD then went over and apologized for Beatty's actions to the Manual AD. Unfortunate that Beatty has no class, his kids played a great game, embarrasing for Trinity.

I applaud coach Lucas for his comments in the article saying "there was nothing wrong with them calling a timeout." It was his AD that was doing all the complaining.

He's a pretty blunt guy and would have said it had he felt it!

On the issue itself - I love high school football and there is a lot of running up the score that goes on. Was at a game two weeks ago where Team A was up 63-7 and passed to set up another TD. But if you are not passing the ball up 40 something or whatever I don't see that as "running it up." It's a simple running play so stop it. You might not agree, just my opinion.

Better hurry up rocktopper, you might get grounded.

Things happened at the first meeting at Manual that folks don't know about, so i am told. Does it justify the last timeout? No way. But the things Manual did prior to and during the regular season game percipitated it. Also, some Manual players were taking late/cheap shots when the game started getting out of hand, try to get T to retaliate. T should have knelt on it and been the bigger program though.

T has been labeled by those that have played them this year as being much more "thug'ish" than anyone has ever seen out of the storied program. I would venture to say that most of KY will be rooting for X this Friday, and very few outside of Rock nation will be proud should this Trinity team win it all. Has Trinity sold out on some of the values that made it great in order to win even more?

What do you mean by "thuggish"? Specifically, who has done the labeling you speak of and what was actually said?

In a situation described above you go in a Victory formation and end the game, period. A school representing the Father, Son and Holy Spirit should be more cautious of their sportsmanship.

Instant Analysis from Rivals.com - nice writeup from Senior Analyst Dallas Jackson.

The end game antics are detailed at the bottom of the page. If these details are true, and I have no reason to think they aren't, I have lost so much respect for the Trinity program, I can't even begin to tell you. What an absolute joke! There aren't enough nasty words I could use to describe Coach Beatty so I won't even try.

Up 41-13 with 30 seconds left...you take a knee, PERIOD...END OF DISCUSSION. What you DO NOT do is run a play and score a TD. And even if you decide to be classless and do that, what YOU SIMPLY CAN NOT EVER DO is run ANOTHER PLAY when the first one got called back because of a penalty and score ANOTHER MEANINGLESS TD!!!

And people wonder why there is desire to stick the privates in their own tourny? Really?

There are a few details you obviously don't know. Stick to Ohio CF.

T has been labeled by those that have played them this year as being much more "thug'ish" than anyone has ever seen out of the storied program. I would venture to say that most of KY will be rooting for X this Friday, and very few outside of Rock nation will be proud should this Trinity team win it all. What does "thug'ish" mean? Which players are you referring to?

We do agree on one thing, every 6A school in the state is hoping Trinity loses this Friday.

Is "thuggish" a code word for something else?

Is "thuggish" a code word for something else?

Typically Thuggish means that there are way more black players on Trinity than normal. Which, after looking at the team, seems certainly to be the case. Now, does that mean they are actually more "thuggish", no, of course not. Does it change the lily white image the school may have enjoyed....certainly.

I don't even care about that nonsense. I don't see color. What I see is a coach who, with a 41-13 lead w/less than a minute to go, call timeout to SCORE AGAIN! Why is no one as outraged at this as I am. This is supposed to be a Catholic school and this is the lesson we are teaching??

Moeller South....that's what I see. And that is NOT a good thing.

If I had to guess, I would think "thuggish" means that they talk trash "don't exactly go use humility" when they play. Think "TO" and Legarrett Blount (good him if you don't know who he is) versus Jerry Rice and Barry Sanders.

I suspect the "Saint X coach caper" where he was accused of "tipping of the hat" to Beatty and Trinity fans in last year's State championship game is no longer a one sided argument for being "classless."

In my opinion, if both cases are true, running up the score running up the score and then yelling at Manual's coach to "get off his field", Beatty has taken it to a whole new level.

Now, IF all the above is true:

Tipping your hat to the crowd: 3 on a scale of 10 for lacking class

Making sure you punch it in the endzone one more time and having to be removed from the field by your AD: 7 on a scale of 10 for lacking class

But, Beatty is at Trinity to "win football games" and "not make friends with 14-15 year olds", so I guess this doesn't contradict anything is coaching contract. *side note-I heard the other day that Beatty is purely a football coach. Most coaches (if not all) have teaching schedules and school related responsibilities. Is this true? Did Trinity hire a person to draw up football plays, full time? Just wanted to ask. My buddy said he saw Robert Beatty at noon on a weekday (a school day), dressed in athletic gear sitting at a restaurant drawing up plays on a pad of paper. So I just wanted to ask if he is a teacher or purely a football coach.

I digress...

The funny part of this whole thing is reading the same Trinity fans who berated Glaser last year for tipping his hat are now justifying these actions.

Does Trinity have great athletes? You bet. USC/Florida scholarship caliber athletes, in fact.

If you want to know about trinity football ask the parents of the 2009 football class and 98% of the 2010 class. Well...wait on the 2010 class. If Trinity gets up by 30-40 points, a sophomore player who virtually starts will still be in the game running for touchdowns and kids who have dreamed of playing for Trinity since they were six will be sitting on the sideline and the parents ears will begin to steam.

So, just like last year, when the 2009 parents went bananas (I read the C-J comments, it was documented) after Trinity didn't put in any of their "terrible" seniors when the game was decided at the state game...the 2010 parents will be quiet until its all over because the Rocks might hoist the trophy but this will be the second class of seniors in a row that don't see the field, even in blowouts.

Just to wrap things up, I thought I recall Saint X going for a fake field goal with 5-6 minutes left in the game last year and hearing quite a few comments about that being "running up the score"? Where does that fall on the scale of running up the score, compared to say, running 3 plays in 25 seconds with a timeout to give a starter the ball one more time when you are up by 30. At least the fake field goal play went to a kid that rarely got to play on offense and was playing mostly special teams, if anything. Oh, and there were 5 minutes left in the game, not 25 seconds and a timeout.

Is "thuggish" a code word for something else?

We'll find out.
