I'm a Boyle fan and I think I was a pretty gracious loser after the Log Mountain game, I stayed a while after the game talking to a few Bell faithfuls about the game. When fans and emotions are involved, your going to get that anywhere you are. A select few can make it seem like the whole bunch are bad, but we aren't. Another thing i've found is that during the playoffs or the championship, you have alot of "bandwagon" fans that come out and don't really know how to handle defeat(or victory for that matter). Beleive what you want, but Boyle and Bell are two great teams that have passionate fans that believe in their programs. I think, for the most part, they have tremendous respect for each other.

I was also at the Bell game when Boyle lost and their fans were just as bad as any other team after a loss and their fans were walking out of the stadium blaming coaches and officials. it is this elitist atttitude that makes the classless shoe fit your fanbase well!

 

Right. Says the Mercer County fan. I have come across 1 Boyle fan who blamed the officials instead of the 6 turnovers we had that game. Everyone else knows why we lost that game. Are you sure you don't have our fan base confused with your own? We have our share of crazies as does every fan base. I won't deny that but you'd have to look pretty hard to find Bell County fans that we don't share a mutual respect with.

Thanks you cleared that up! Every fanbase has their share of fans that don't always handle losses well. And yes there isn't any fanbase that is any worst than ours but it kind of struck a nerve when titletown was acting like the Rebels didn't have theres.

 

I aslo think the reason you respect the Bell Co. fans is you understand that they are a threat. However teams that you feel are no threat you can thumb your nose to.

It's some type of East Jessamine ritual to go to an opponents field and have the player of the day take a sledge hammer and hit the goal post.

 

They did it at Boyle and Rebel staff came and took the hammer away.

 

It did ding the paint and made a few marks and dents from what I was told.

 

 

I really don't get the attitude that you can go into someone else's field and just do some things like do at your field and not expect a reaction. :confused:

As a redneck i am not offended by your statement. If it would make Boyle feel better about themselves, i think if they sit the starters out for the rest of the playoffs then all should be well.....

No. We say how we feel the game will turn out and people get mad. Not one time have I ever thumbed my nose to any Mercer fan in person or on this board. Nor have I thumbed my nose to any fan on here but if I feel like Boyle will win by 5tds or 2 pts, I will say so. How people react or take it after that is entirely up to them. When our entire fan base is called out you better believe I will come to our defense and I will call us out as well when we do wrong or do something perceived as wrong. Such as petitioning to play in 5A next year. I am a Rebel through and through but I have always tried to call it as I see it as have the other Rebel fans on here. Has Boyle really been that classless in your eyes the last 2 years they have played Mercer?

 

I respect the Bell fans because they respect us back. I respect the Bell fans because in 2008 after we had 5 pages of trash talking before the game we all still got along after the game and wished each other well. Same as last year. Bell receives a lot of the same hate we receive so in a weird way, we both understand what each program goes through from the outsiders.

I don't like to respond to threads like this; however, I'm tired of being called out as classless because we beat an inferior team. I think that it is funny that the East Jessamine faithful would call us classless and nothing is mentioned about the mud game of 2009. We go to East and the field is flooded. I mean that there is water absolutely standing on the field. Looking to gain an advantage for their power running game. Worst field conditions that I have seen in my life. There is no way that a game should have been played on that field. The lines and sidelines were not visible. After a few plays you couldn't tell the players on the field apart, everyone was covered in mud. So don't whine about being beat fair and square just because we scored more points (....a lot more points). As for you Nikeman (aka Lafayette supporter), your team had its chance on your home field, in the new stadium dedication game and you laid an egg on the scoreboard. Get over it. As a matter of fact, get your coaching staff to reup for next year if it means that much to you. It won't happen because they don't want it to and you don't want it to. Go ahead with your classless yapping, predict us to lose. Ouch, it really hurts us. We will laugh about it as we continue on in the playoffs and play real teams. As Forest Gump said "That's all I got to say about that."

So you are referencing 3 posts and you want to let those three posts represent the entire Boyle fanbase? I never said that anyone on this board was classless! The only point being that every fanbase has their fans that will always not handle losing very well and for that matter there are fanbases that don't handle winning very well.

 

 

Oh well I have wasted enough time on this subject! You guys are defending your position as you should! I just think there are other people that look at it a little different and I am sure that both sides have a little truth in them.
