October 7, 201015 yr After six months I don't think that will change. Nothing that happened tonight was a surprise to me, although it is disappointing. While this team does score a lot of runs, in reality they just aren't great hitters when you absolutely have to put the ball in play. Small ball ain't their forte.

The Braves will win the division? How did that turn out? I don't see that as overhyping the Braves in anyway but to each their own.

October 7, 201015 yr The replay never was clear, but did he have a shot at the runner going to 1st? I could never tell. He could've easily gotten the runner at first. I'm not seeing the trouble getting it out of the glove LRCW is talking about. It's not like it was a slow roller. He just made a dumb play.

So some of Reds fans saying we would rather face the Phillies is more of an outlandish statement than you saying the Braves would win the division or Wainwright would be lucky to win another game or beat the Braves? Try again.

The Phillies are the best team in the majors according to most people. Everybody knew it was going to be tough. As we've seen for years good pitching beats good hitting. The Reds have their work cut out for them, but I still think they can do it.
October 7, 201015 yr My forecast says sunny tomorrow, I'll believe it when I see it. Seriously, I may have to give Dusty a little more credit than before. He knew his bullpen would be completely rested and could use them at any point, even if Volquez wasn't on. If he was on, he's nearly unhittable. Unfortunately it came on too quick to get anyone in. Now, he has Bronson going and knows what he will get from him. Even if Volquez or Arroyo gives up one run, you lose. They can still get out of Philly 1-1.

October 7, 201015 yr Dusty set the tone in this game by starting Volquez. Against Halladay Reds knew they had to have a good pitched game and keep it close. Instead, he started a pitcher who is coming off Tommy John surgery and has been known to be wild as a buck. Wood who threw a near perfect game against the Phils and knowing the Phils are bad against LH rots in the bullpen. The Reds were down after the second inning. Dusty is terrible in close pressure packed games. Volquez is 2-0 with a 0.73 ERA before today against Philly and was dealing down the stretch. Also they hit lefties much better than you think. 0-2...

October 7, 201015 yr The movement Halladay gets his pitches is unreal. He is so reminiscent of Maddux in his prime, and actually has an even better fastball. Hate to see the Reds lose, but was still fun to watch a huge game in baseball history. Hopefully Oswalt will look like he's throwing beachballs compared to what they just saw tonight.
