SSC, I agree. I'm not sure how much of an advantage it is to play Philly in a 5 game series considering you'll only face Halladay, Oswalt & Hamels.

 

Also, it puts a lot of pressure on Games 1 & 2, which give Philly a bigger advantage, IMO.

 

Sure, it's easier to beat those guys once than it is twice, but I'm not certain it's an advantage to play them in a 5 game series.

Guys it's as simple as this the longer the series the better the chances the best team wins. I would like to play Philly in a one and done if possible.

How hard is it to understand that I think game 4 in a 7 game series the Reds would be favored? It would give Wood a chance to face the 4th pitcher from the Phillies or force them to use pitchers on short rest. The extra day off in this particular 5 game series is a big advantage for Philly if the series goes 4 games.

Not an advantage for the Reds on paper, IMO.

Usually in the playoffs, pitching is what matters. I really think hitting is more important for the Reds this year. I feel like we know what to expect from the starting pitching that will be run out there. If the Reds can put 3-4 runs up against Halladay, Oswalt and Hamels they'll wn the series. I'm confident Cincy's starting pitching will keep them in the game. It's on the offense to continue to get two out hits and get runners home from third with less than two outs.

I agree with you that it will come down to the Reds offense though. The Reds have a good enough bullpen to shorten games if Cordero can hold it together. It should be fun to watch no matter what.

I also agree that it comes down to scoring a few runs. To me Bruce is the key. If he can stay hot he makes the Reds a different team.

That would be great, but what I really want is to see the Reds win the World Series at home. All 3 of their World Series clinching wins in my life time have come on the road. To be at GABP to witness the Reds winning the World Series would be the ultimate high for me. The good Lord could take me home right then and there.
