Well it looks like I'll be pulling for the Reds even though I think they will only last 3 games. I'll definitely be rooting for the Braves over the Giants even though I don't think they have a chance either.

Sadly I think the Phillies get the job done in 5.

 

I think it'll go 5 also. With each team splitting on the others home field. If that's the case, I've got to give the edge to Philly in game 5.

By the way did anybody listen to Jeff Brantley and Marty after the game? Jeff is also of the belief that it's much better for the Reds to face the Phillies in a 5 game series than it is a 7 game series.

I'm not sure where dmd gets his numbers but the most probable win the Reds would get is game 4 starters.

1. I would assume the Phillies will continue to go with a 3 man rotation for the duration of the playoffs. Atleast that's what I'd do if I was their manager. So your theory about the 4th starter isn't logical. That's starting on 3 days rest for the NLCS and WS

 

2. It's not getting numbers from anywhere. If a team is better than you then the more you play them, the more likely they are to beat you. The longer the series, the more exposed the weaker team becomes.

The Phillies 4th starter is going to be Halladay for the playoffs.

I'd rather play them in a series when they send guys on short rest then. My guess is if they are up 2-1 or 3-0 they use a 4th starter. If they trail they would with 3 starters

That's what I've been saying. If Reds fans are happy about playing the Phillies in a 5 game seires and are equally scared of SF and the west coast couldn't SF with Lincecum and Cain beat Philly? That's what people avoid.
