The Braylon Edwards arrest for DUI and lack of a full-game suspension made me wonder.

Let me preface this thread by saying you do not have to post in the thread or reveal what your job is.

But I am curious as to whether or not you would still have a jo following a DUI arrest.

The DUI is an alcohol only arrest and no drugs involved. No one else got hurt. No other charges in addition to the DUI.

Thanks

No. As long as I did not get jail time, I would not lose my job. Even sentenced to do time in jail, if given work releases, common for DUI convictions involving jail time in Florida, I would still keep my job.

A DUI conviction would get me an automatic referral to the Bar Association for placement in the KYSLAP program (substance abuse for lawyers) and my license would be on probation. 2 DUI's and I'm probably out.

I'm about 99% positive I'd lose my job, but I've heard of Officers having that hardship license sticker on the back of their cruiser, which I find odd but who knows

Since Im retired , no I wouldn't lose my job . When I was working though I probably would have and I have fired a number of people when I was a supervisor for either drinking on the job ( just stupid ) or coming back from lunch drunk . Personally if I have more than 6 beers or two mixed drinks a year I have been drinking too much .

I have two jobs. In my primary job I would be referred to the state board and at the very least would have my license put on probation. In my secondary job there would be no consequences.

First job, no consequences.

Second job, fired immediately.

I honestly have no idea, I guessed suspended. But, I travel quite a bit for my job, so beign fired wouldn't be out of the question.

I would not have anything done, unless I was unable to go to work because of it, mainly due to jail time.

I think my best bet would be to use my free call to contact our HR Director and them know my employment is no longer. I am pretty sure I would be out.

Not sure what would happen to me. The rules are vague but I have a company car and they pay the insurance.

I'm guessing I could be fired if I got it in the company car, but maybe OK to go if in my personal car?

My job sometimes requires driving, and the company will not allow anyone who has had a DUI conviction in the last 2 years to drive a company vehicle for insurance purposes... So I chose the option I would be demoted and have lesser responsibilities. As for the day-to-day, though, it wouldn't change much.

I would not be fired. Now if I had to miss a lot of work due to jail time that might be a bit different.

Do people think companies should have the right to fire an employee charged with DUI?

Do people think companies should have the right to fire an employee charged with DUI?

In some positions, most definitely.
