Many places run routine background checks. For instance my secondary job runs one every three years of employment I believe---but as long as I informed them beforehand I'd be ok.

Within our employee handbook, which you have to sign an acknowledgement that you've read and agree to abide by, our policy states that as employees of said establishment, we represent that entity within, and without. Any conduct deemed detrimental to the integrity of the entity will be immediate cause for termination.

I'm almost through with my 1 year probation period at my current job. During my year of probation a DUI or any other type of arrest would cost me my job.

 

After my year of probation is up, nothing can be done to me over an arrest of any type as long as I don't have to serve some type of long term setence.

Yes.

I work for one of the largest corporations in the world and they give me a company car and they make the rules and they have no DUI rule for all one and done. They also drug test after any accident.

I don't think most companies do ongoing backgroud checks though. I'd be willing to bet, that in most cases (except for people who drive for work), if you didn't say anything your employer would never know.

 

I know several people who have had DUI's over the years. I don't think any of them told their employer. None of them lost their job.

 

Heck, most of the time, if there is no accident involved, your insurance doesn't even find out.

What do you do?

 

I like to keep that to myself. Let's just say that it is a professional level job and keep it at that.
