I've asked for examples, which you provided what you feel are fear mongering. I responded with how I saw the examples you listed. That's a conversation. I'm not trying to be partisan. I've listed examples in my post that you've not addressed at all.

If allowing the tax breaks for the 250K+ earners to expire will cause job loss because these individuals will not be creating jobs, where are the jobs they were creating throughout this whole time they've had the advantage of the tax breaks.

I'll ask now: Am I the only one who finds the birthers, the people who believe Obama is Muslim, the people who say they know nothing about him outrageous?

 

I believe unemployment was less than 6% for most of Bush's presidency. So jobs were being created.

 

You didn't see unemployment start to go up until the end. A part of which was created by worldwide economic instability. A part of which was our own government. And it wasn't all Bush. Government spending during his first 6 years was around 300 Bil deficit. When the Dems took over congress that deficit spending increased to over 600 Bil.

 

From a corparate and venture standpoint Obama, Pelosi, Reid have made things even worse. Businesses still don't have a full grasp of the impact that the healthcare bill is going to have on them. What is going to happen with cap and trade. What is going to happen with their taxes, etc.

 

People do not invest in new ventures when things are unstable, they hold on to their assets and wait it out. Nothing much is going to happen until these things are solved.

 

And yes, if the tax breaks are not extended it will have a negative impact on jobs. Virtually every economist agrees on this. The disagreement is to what extent the impact will be.

I am not going too far in this debate as a promise to myself, but the folks on the left (kooks) did say Bush and the government CREATED the 09/11 attacks, and to me that is every bit as nutty as some believing Obama is a Muslim.

There is no doubt that both parties use fear tactics.

 

But I will say, I have not heard the Tea Party people use fear tactics. The TP has been more of their own message. They have criticised both Dems and Reps for straying away from the constitution and the founding principles.

Always ... it's very telling that when you throw up some examples of what you call fearmongering on the left and are confronted with some that others see on the right, you dismiss the argument as "absurd."

 

It's like taking your ball and running home with it because you don't like the way the others are playing.

I think we have asked for examples, and even with RTS post I still haven't seen and example of the fear mongering. I don't recall any Willie Horton or Coyote ads from the Dems.

I do not pretend to be an expert on economics at the world level or the country level. However, I do subscribe to the theory that the boom we had until about a year prior to the end of the Bush presidency was fueled by cheap oil and that cheap oil is going to drive the economy back to where it was. However, I'm not convinced we'll see cheap oil again.

Because I said you were being partisan and your dismissal of what the Dems and Obama have used fear mongering on you called me an elitist and "oh wise one", then you ask if we may discuss the issue at hand and leave the derision out of it. :lol: That's comic gold.

 

OK, I'll try to explain, but I doubt it will matter to some.

 

Health Care: I'm not talking about the fact that trying to get health care passed was fear mongering, it was some of the things that were said by the Dems. Crap Like "Republicans want you to die quickly" as their answer to health care and things like 44 thousand Americans will die if we don't pass this bill. Republicans want to eliminate Medicare. Just a few quick examples.

 

Global Warming: The vast majority of the whole GW thing has been about fear. Come on, I mean I really shouldn't have to explain this one with all the examples I've posted on here in the past.

 

The Economy: You were totally unfair on that one. I never said the economy wasn't bad or couldn't have gotten worse and to paint me as one that doesn't realize how many people are out of work is part of why I called your post absurd. I merely pointed out that Obama and the Dems tried to scare people into thinking this was extremely close to the Great Depression, which was a lie.

 

Social Security: I'll just give you a quick example right here in Kentucky. In the 6th Congressional District Rep. Ben Chandler’s latest ad says Republican Andy Barr "wants to privatize Social Security and gamble it in the stock market." But Barr has never said he supports privatization. Barr clearly says on his website: "I will oppose plans to privatize Social Security."
