OK, I'll try to explain, but I doubt it will matter to some.

 

Health Care: I'm not talking about the fact that trying to get health care passed was fear mongering, it was some of the things that were said by the Dems. Crap Like "Republicans want you to die quickly" as their answer to health care and things like 44 thousand Americans will die if we don't pass this bill. Republicans want to eliminate Medicare. Just a few quick examples.

Global Warming: The vast majority of the whole GW thing has been about fear. Come on, I mean I really shouldn't have to explain this one with all the examples I've posted on here in the past.

I actually disagree with you that it's been about fear. I personally, as I've discussed before, feel that the concerns and projections are facts. But, because we disagree, does that mean I am a fear mongerer? I don't happen to be alone in my environmental concerns, so I don't think I'm too far off base.

 

The Economy: You were totally unfair on that one. I never said the economy wasn't bad or couldn't have gotten worse and to paint me as one that doesn't realize how many people are out of work is part of why I called your post absurd. I merely pointed out that Obama and the Dems tried to scare people into thinking this was extremely close to the Great Depression, which was a lie.

Before I answer this one, tell me how it was a lie.

 

Social Security: I'll just give you a quick example right here in Kentucky. In the 6th Congressional District Rep. Ben Chandler’s latest ad says Republican Andy Barr "wants to privatize Social Security and gamble it in the stock market." But Barr has never said he supports privatization. Barr clearly says on his website: "I will oppose plans to privatize Social Security."

And you have Republicans running denouncing their opponents for support of entitlement programs when they express support of Social Security and Unemployment benefit extensions. Neither are entitlement programs.

RTS, I think one good way to sum up some of the core differences in our opinions is this:

 

You believe the current administration is taking us toward socialism. I disagree. And I disagree with the hyperbole that is being used to push that belief...not necessarily by you as an individual.

 

You believe people like me, who support the current administration, feel there's truth in Global Warming, etc, are not living in the "real" world, naieve...whatever you want to call it. I disagree. I think that we are more focused on a idea of government that provides assistance to it's citizens, and we all share that responsibility.

 

In a life-principle way of thinking, I believe the world is a village and we all should take care of each other, even if some of them are bad apples, because of the greater good. You believe in 100% personal responsibility with the option to choose to take care of others.

 

I'm not sure either of us is 100% right or wrong. All I can do, like many others, is learn as much as I can, weigh each issue against my beliefs and decide where I stand.

 

But it's ridiculous to me the credence that is given to those who believe outrageous lies such as "Obama is a Muslim". Even on this board, we've had some people come into threads and post their belief and spend countless keystrokes defending that belief. I think it's much more a prevelant line of thinking than you are willing to admit, therefore less of a gross generalization that you think.

As examples of the kind of things I'm talking about, I offer the following:

 

One is obviously a billboard, the other is a handmade sign by a participant at a rally.

Always? :lol: What's telling is the drive-by's you've been so prolific with. To set you straight on this drive-by, it wasn't being confronted with what she sees on the right, it was the unfairness of the post and generalization. Some of it just came across as flat out dishonest to me.

You can't dismiss someone else's well-reasoned comments as "absurd" and continue to insist you want real discussion of issues.
