My problem with the Tea Party isn't racism. My problem is with what I feel is extremism. Even though I agree in theory with some of the principles, the elements that turn me off far outweigh any areas of agreement that I have with them. And when I say outweigh, I don't necessarily mean in number. I mean that what I perceive to be the outrageous nature of some of their member's beliefs. Those who believe he's Muslim, feel he's not a US Citizen, and say that they don't know anything about him. I don't agree with some of the aspects they espouse with regard to immigration, especially with regard to the legislation in Arizona. I don't agree with them on the healthcare issue. I don't agree with them on some of their economic principles. I feel they propagate fear as a means of motivation, which I guess is the "catch-all" reason I can't support them.

So do Obama and the Dems, do you support them? I can't think of a time when either side hasn't done their share of fear mongering near election time, when they were against legislation the other side came up with, and so on and so on.

The whole Obama-care fiasco, Global Warming, Obama's analogies of the economy to the Great Depression, warning voters that Republicans are targeting Social Security for destruction. Those are a few off the top of my head. The way I see it, this administration thinks crises are opportunities for governmental power-grabs.

Where is the fear with Obamacare? The law was passed. The fear there is being spread by the Right, in regard to its effects.

 

I hear more "Great Depression" talk from the Right, especially enforcing the perception that this is Obama's economy, regardless of the situation he inherited.

 

Social Security ... haven't some of the Republican candidates talked about privatizing it again and, in some extreme cases, called it unconstitutional?

#2, I don't feel it's fear mongering to set policies toward a goal of clean energy and energy independence. I also happen to agree that industrialization has had a negative impact on our environment and more should be done to combat it.

#3, If you don't think the economy could have been worse, or that you are either discounting the economic crisis at this point to use this to support your theory of fear mongering, or you really don't realize how many people are out of work.

If the tax cuts on those making $250K+ will hurt job creation because those individuals won't be able to create new jobs, why weren't they creating these jobs back in the heyday of their prosperity? I've asked that question countless times and not one person has attempted to answer it.

What you're being is partisan, you can't see the fear mongering on the side you support but it's always there on the opposing side for you. Your total dismissal of the ridiculous arguments the Dems have made is absurd. Might want to ask yourself again who is elitist.

I think we have asked for examples, and even with RTS post I still haven't seen and example of the fear mongering. I don't recall any Willie Horton or Coyote ads from the Dems.

I've asked for examples, which you provided what you feel are fear mongering. I responded with how I saw the examples you listed. That's a conversation. I'm not trying to be partisan. I've listed examples in my post that you've not addressed at all.

 

I, sir, am no elitist. But let me tell you...I will not be talked down to, or patronized. You are doing both, yet not addressing any of the points that I bring up. I ask again, oh wise one, may we discuss the issue at hand and leave the derision out of it?

 

And, again, I ask this question:

 

If allowing the tax breaks for the 250K+ earners to expire will cause job loss because these individuals will not be creating jobs, where are the jobs they were creating throughout this whole time they've had the advantage of the tax breaks.
