This must be a northern KY thing because ( with all due respect) who really cares? I enjoy beating them, but the debate on who is "better" will never be won. Our goal (Trinity) is to win the KENTUCKY title, not OH. I guess because many of you live near Cincy, it must be a big issue. I say let it go. Life is too short. :ylsuper:

Well, it has to do with the fact that Cincinnati has always looked down its nose at NoKy the same way NoKy looks down its nose at the rest of Ky. It's all part of NoKy's desperate quest for approval from its counterparts across the Ohio River in the Armpit Of The Nation.

You may very well be correct. They may not have known that with the move to 6 classes, the way to determine which class you are in was changed. Still, the fact that that was the method until a few years ago is insane to me!

I'm assuming CF was generalizing. And BTW Big Cincinnati schools like Colerain and the four from the GCL South play the best brand of football around. So I wouldn't even call it a stretch to categorize Colerain with the best, even if they are not the best of the best.

When we were down to 4 classes though, would the gaps have made that much of a difference?

I understand the points of more teams going farther in the playoffs will create more interest in football in Kentucky... But with the top teams not being challenged, will that hurt the top teams?

I really do wonder whether the Trinity coaches and players feel the same way Rock85 does. Obviously, winning state titles is going to be the most important football goal for Trinity (as there aren't any official titles awarded that are higher than state-level). However, Trinity has made an effort to play top-tier out-of-state competition in the recent past and at the present time, playing against some of the best that Ohio, Tennessee and Indiana have to offer. Clearly, a case can be made that Trinity schedules these games in order to prepare for a state title run (i.e., beating Louisville St. X), but it does look like Trinity is moving toward playing a "regional" schedule instead of merely playing a "state" schedule.

Also could be a case-just like Highlands-that many other teams won't schedule them for various reasons. I think we have a serious problem in Kentucky about getting our football taken seriously. We have watered down the divisions to 6, but many teams of similar size-6A-won't play Trinity unless they have too. Thus forcing their hand to play a more regional schedule. Again, at the risk of beating the dead horse-that is another reason why I think Trinity and Highlands playing every other year makes alot of sense. Let's face it Highlands has already won 5A in 2010 despite the claims of how good this team and that one is, and Trinity has a better than 50% of winning 6A.

I find this an interesting point as well. I can see schools like X or T wanting to make a legitimate run at "National" recognition if they thought it would be good for the overall bottom line.

 

I do chuckle, however, when I hear Dale Mueller at Highlands talk about with state and "National" titles. Highlands is a great program but they are in no way deserving of a national title, regardless of the season. They simply don't play "big boy" football in the eyes of national pollsters and beating a Cincy "power" in a down year once a decade doesn't count for a "National schedule." I admire the tenacity and focus, but....

I think most posts are pretty accurate but......this thought that Ohio "small ball" is inferior NO WAY..... The way the rating system is set up small schools that play no one can go ten and ofer and still not make play offs, even in the smallest schools they winner of that class is a very good squad...there may be one or two each year that could win but as a whole no way. Take a trip to the Oh. State title games sometimes you will see good football regardless of class, I went in 2008 and was very impressed.
