Sometimes punks have to be confronted. This kid had punk written all over him. Kudos to Pops.

 

I agree 100%! First the punk would never sit down, then he never shut up! I don't care if the older guy confronted him our not!m He was older and the punk should have just BACKED OFF! He was there and knew what was said, not us, he must have really been saying something to get reaction. Plus he is from a generation that knows how to treat females, not sure the older guy was there with her or not. Then he shoves the female when he could have backed off and walk away?

 

My question is why security wasn't there from the start?

I was just going by the above comments. Daughter, wife, girlfriend, friend, etc, it doesn't matter.

I hardly consider that "in someone's face". If anything the women was invading his "space" more than the young man. Call me naive all you want, at the end of the day, the older gentleman had no right to touch him, nor should he have. We are suppose to preach not to resolve things with violence to young kids. Does the older man's actions not completely contradict this?

If you want to teach the kids a lesson that is actually based in reality and historical experience, you need to teach kids that violence actually settles most everything, especially the important things.

 

There are actually things in this world worth fighting over (despite our current President's beliefs to the contrary), and family is most certainly one of those things. I don't know the particulars of this US Open incident, but frankly, if a daughter is being totally degraded by some punk and all her father does is stand there and listen, then he should just go and put on a dress.

Lastly if he was so worried about his daughter, he should have immediately pulled her behind him and been the one jawwing with the kid.

 

The kid definitely looks like a jerk, and the older guy looks like a hero, but at the end of the day the kid could get a lot of money from this if he wanted.

 

Not necessarily, if it was a trial by jury I would think a large portion of the population would be sympathetic to the case of the older guy. Besides, the guy deserved it......I'm old too, and I've got a lot of insurance. It wouldn't cost me much out of pocket and I'd feel much better about the situation. The punk deserved it and unless he gets a heck of a break on the jury, he won't win a civil case anyway.

I think a lot of judges, who are also old guys, would throw out the case based on the verbal abuse directed toward the woman in the video. If you have any doubt, see the incident involving Buzz Aldrin punching out Bart Sibrel. Sibrel did not use any fowl language, he just called Buzz a coward.

Whatever his last words to her is what upset the dad.

 

Your viewpoint is perfect....upto a point. Violence should be the last resort. However, there comes a time when it is the answer.
