September 2, 201016 yr On FSN prior to the game Hal McCoy said he's insurance until the Reds sign Votto. How long do you think they should sign him? I'm thinking the REds can't afford him too much longer than 3 years.
September 2, 201016 yr Author How long do you think they should sign him? I'm thinking the REds can't afford him too much longer than 3 years. They can't afford not to sign him. 6 year 120 miillon will get it done.
September 2, 201016 yr Jim Day is rattled. He just said the Houston Astros won 5-2 over Houston today.
September 2, 201016 yr They can't afford not to sign him. 6 year 120 miillon will get it done. I will riot in the streets if the Reds don't do everything in there power to resign him when the time comes.
September 2, 201016 yr One team headed one direction, one team headed in the other. One driven by the toothpick. One driven by PETA Tony whose chugging on over to mamby pamby land to look for some self confidence. Tissue, Tony? Crybaby.
September 2, 201016 yr Jim Day is rattled. He just said the Houston Astros won 5-2 over Houston today. Wasn't that the outcome Patrick Starr predicted??
September 2, 201016 yr They can't afford not to sign him. 6 year 120 miillon will get it done. Can a team with an $80M payroll afford a guy making $20M or more a year when they are drawing 15K up 5 games in late August?
September 2, 201016 yr Author Can a team with an $80M payroll afford a guy making $20M or more a year when they are drawing 15K up 5 games in late August? If they can afford to have 26 million per year in Harang and Cordero they can afford Votto at that price.
September 2, 201016 yr Harang will be off the books, so that's 12 mil or so freed up. What must if feel like to be in the box against Chapman? Not only does he bring a 104mph fastball but that slider is absurd. Is he Sidd Finch? I like what I see from this team, now it's a six inning game for the starters, and that's something that's gold in baseball. Quality starters and four in the bully who are more than capable of holding the opponent down.
September 2, 201016 yr Saw it on youtube. Not much of a fight in total, but good to see Morgan get clothes-lined. You can tell that Morgan has been to knuckle junction previously. Nice form on the punch. Nice clothesline by Sanchez. I'm still not sure why the fish were mad at Morgan for his play at home plate or his stealing of the bases.
September 2, 201016 yr I really can't believe that the Reds are up 8 games now after between swept (which seems so long ago). I hate that they have an off day tomorrow. I love looking forwad to watching/listening to the Redlegs everynight.
September 2, 201016 yr If they can afford to have 26 million per year in Harang and Cordero they can afford Votto at that price. Not my exact point, but I understand yours. I'm all for it. I'm just not sure a team can win paying one guy 25% of their payroll. Bruce will get a raise soon. The other two OF spots need one. Masset? Doesn't BP's contract start going up soon too? I really hope they can do it, but if the Marlins taught us anything it's go for it when you have a chance and trade your studs for stud prospects and start over. The big key is can Votto produce like Pujols every year? If not the Reds can't win 2-5 years from now if he's just as good as Fielder.
September 2, 201016 yr Spindoc, I think Rolen has a legitimate shot at a gold glove. Same could be said for Bruce (RF) & Phillips (2B). Just a great year by the Reds & I couldn't be any happier.
September 2, 201016 yr As dominant as Chapman may be out of the pen, I hope he gets a chance to start. If he suffers an arm injury or something, then maybe we'll consider moving him to the pen; however, I don't think you can pass on the opportunity of sending him out there every 5th day with that type of stuff. When the playoffs roll around, he's the type of elite pitcher that could make a team focus on Games 2 & 3.
