August 28, 201016 yr Interesting tidbit: To no one's real surprise, the Reds are considering a shutdown with Mike Leake(notes). He's been a mess in the second half, and doesn't look comfortable in relief at all. No shame here, he had a nice season and should eventually settle in as a consistent No. 3 or No. 4 starter for years to come. Closing Time
August 28, 201016 yr If the Reds can't take at least two of three with Gorzelanny, Wells, and Coleman pitching, they should swap places with Louisville. No way the Reds beat Randy Wells. Kip Wells maybe, but not Randy. I'm calling for a 4-1 Cubs victory tonight, as the Cardinals cut the lead to 3 games.
August 28, 201016 yr By the way in case anyone was wondering the Dodgers are only 4.5 games back in the wildcard now.
August 28, 201016 yr By the way in case anyone was wondering the Dodgers are only 4.5 games back in the wildcard now. Yeah and now they put Lily on waivers. My bet is that he is gone to some other contender by Tuesday along with Manny.

August 28, 201016 yr Patrick Starr...please tell me you hate the Bengals too? lol Don't know a Steelers fan that doesn't.
August 28, 201016 yr Did I hear that right? That the Wild Card winner cannot play their division winner in the opening series of playoffs? That is correct
August 28, 201016 yr It's the Nationals. Not even Loshe can lose to them. They lost two in a row at Pittsburgh and the opening game with the Nationals. So anything is possible. Cards are stinking it up right now and the Reds are taking advantage of it by playing some very good baseball.
August 28, 201016 yr By the way in case anyone was wondering the Dodgers are only 4.5 games back in the wildcard now. Only 4.5? They only have 33 games left. Plus they are fifth in the WC standings.
August 28, 201016 yr Author The Reds’ updated probable pitchers, announced by the team today: Sat vs Chi: RHP Bronson Arroyo (14-7, 3.82) vs RHP Randy Wells (5-12, 4.56) Sun vs Chi: LHP Travis Wood (4-2, 3.38) vs RHP Casey Coleman (1-1, 5.68) Mon vs Mil: RHP Homer Bailey (3-2, 4.83) vs LHP Randy Wolf (10-10, 4.74) Tue vs Mil: TBA vs RHP Yovani Gallardo (11-6, 3.50) Changes: Edinson Volquez was to start Sunday, but he has been struggling and the Reds have mulled what to do with him. For now, he’s out. … Travis Woods was to start Monday, and he has been moved up to Sunday. … Homer Bailey moves up from Tuesday to Monday … Aaron Harang would appear the tentative starter Tuesday, which would be his return from the DL. Manager Dusty Baker indicated Friday that Harang would be the guy Tuesday, but apparently that is still (officially) undecided. http://cincinnati.com/blogs/reds/2010/08/28/volquez-bumped-harang-in/
August 28, 201016 yr Author If the above is correct it means the rotation should be Arroyo, Wood and Bailey for the Cardinals series.
August 28, 201016 yr If the above is correct it means the rotation should be Arroyo, Wood and Bailey for the Cardinals series. I would really like to see Cueto on the mound that series, but it doesn't seem likely at this point. Bruce 9 Valaika 4 Votto 3 Rolen 5 Gomes 7 Hanigan 2 Stubbs 8 Janish 6 Arroyo 1
