August 15, 201016 yr I'd be happy with a 6-3 roadtrip but I have a feeling they're going to go 5-4 or 4-5...Reds simply don't play well out west. I'd be thrilled with a 6-3 trip lol. I'd be happy with a 5-4.
August 15, 201016 yr Gomes has 1 RBI this month and has been pretty bad if LF, need to give him some time on the bench. Don't they have someone they can bring up from Louisville. I read a while back that they had a kid who was knocking the stuffings out of the ball, batting well over .300 and had hit safely in 12 straight games. They need a little boost like that right now. While they're at it they might as well bring along Chapman too.
August 16, 201016 yr I feel good about the Arizona series. We can always bring the Cardinal fans back into the thead midweek, and close it if we need too. The Dodgers series worries me though. I'll let you start the thread next week when they open up with 3 against the Giants. Still here. Great bounce back by the Reds. Cards blew a lot of opprotunities on Saturday and tried to make a comeback today. The Cards can beat anybody on the days Wainwright and Carp pitch. Garcia has been good but not as much lately. Westbrook is in a new league and the 5th guy no matter who it has been has been inconsistent. That is why the Reds can win it. 1-5 their starters are better.
August 16, 201016 yr As one of the few on here who has consistently backed Homer let me say that today was enjoyable. 24 years old

August 16, 201016 yr Anyone see this quote from Dan Uggla after the game: "Homer Bailey has ace-potential stuff"? I like hearing that.
August 16, 201016 yr Anyone see this quote from Dan Uggla after the game: "Homer Bailey has ace-potential stuff"? I like hearing that. It's true... And that's coming from a hell of a hitter in Uggla.
August 16, 201016 yr It's true... And that's coming from a hell of a hitter in Uggla. Uggla took a 100+ mph high fastball from Strasberg out this week.
August 16, 201016 yr Imo the Red's need to win 6 of 9 on the road because St Louis has such a gravy schedule while the Reds are out West. They play 3 @ Pittsburgh, 4 @ Washington and 3 @ Houston before they invite the Reds in over Labor Day weekend. If the Reds don't keep the race close they will be looking up at the Cards when they go to St Louis and that will be one hostile home crowd for the Reds that weekend. If the Red's fall too far behind they could be looking at having to win the wild card and that could be a tough road to get to the playoffs with San Fran and the Phillies playing well.
August 16, 201016 yr While they do have a gravy schedule, you can never really tell with this Cardinal team. Who would have thought that they would lose a series to the Cubs at home after we swept them on the road? The Reds need to go 5-4, but it would be much better if they went 6-3.

Cardinals have played down to their competition all year. They have struggled with the Astros. No matter what happens I think this race is going to the wire.

So do the 2 they play Tuesday and Wednesday against the Brewers not count?
