Track the Reds (2nd Half, Week 6)

So do the 2 they play Tuesday and Wednesday against the Brewers not count?

Sorry I got ahead of myself in the schedule. They do play 2 against Milwaukee and 3 against San Fran before their cake period.

The Reds and Cardinals could both make the playoffs with the schedules that they have. Both have easier schedules than the other teams that are battling for the Wild Card.

I would count on the Phillies to make it with Utley and Howard coming back really soon. If the Reds could have taken two of four up there before the all star break it really could have done the rest of the NL a favor.

I agree the Phillies will make it, but I don't think the Braves will.

I think the Braves are awfully beaten up right now while the Phillies are getting healthy. If Lincecum continues to struggle, I think the Wild Card could come out of the Central.

Has anyone confirmed Wood pitching Thursday?

^ That's what I was looking at which is why I asked. I think we need to have Wood be placed in Leake's spot to keep his innings down and get another lefty in our rotation. Seems pretty obvious to me.

I like the way Wood has performed more than Leake anyway. I don't think you lose much either way and I'd like to keep Leake's arm for the future as long as they plan on keeping him within the organzation.

I think what we'll see happen is Leake get put on the DL just before the end of August and Wood brought up in his place. That way, Leake will still be eligible to pitch postseason if necessary.

I think the D'Backs will try to pick him up .

John Fay threw out the possibility of someone picking him up as a DH or 1st baseman. I like Owings a lot, but it became clear that he didn't have a spot on the pitching staff here...

When Wood was sent down to AAA, Jocketty said that he would pitch on the 19th. Thursday is the 19th, so I'd imagine he'll still start then. Has he thrown at all in AAA?
