The Jordan Palmer Thread

Featured Replies

I wince a little as I think this, but why wouldn't Jared Lorenzen be a better fit for 3rd string QB? If nothing else he'd be useful on 3rd and short plays... :idunno:

For the Bengals it does appear that way. There have been many instances though where backups have come in and the team has played well and sometimes even improved. It is evident the Bengals do not think beyond that however.

When you look around the league how many teams actually have a good starting QB, let alone a good backup?

I've wondered that myself several times.

I think rocker, Robert Palmer, would give them a better chance.

:D:clap: And he has passed away.

Jordan Palmer is the Sheldan Williams of the NFL. You just wonder how a professional can be so bad.

One huge difference, Williams is married to Candace Parker, I just hope his DNA isn't prominent. I heard it's difficult to raise an infant Clingon.

I would agree to a point. You can't judge Jordan's production from a preseason game. Look at the pressure Jordan and J.P. were under. I honestly would rather place my trust and team in Jordan's hands before I would feel comfortable with J.P. I went to a few of the training camp practices this season and got the oppertunity to watch both QB's work 2 minute offence and let me tell you, J.P. was like a lost ball in tall weeds.

I don't think I would look to Jared Lorenzen for an answer but I would look into Andre Woodson. Everyone forgot that he was a very consistant QB for UK that was drafted to probably the worst possible team. He went to a team with two former #1 QB's in Eli Manning and David Carr. I strongly believe that Woodson can play in the NFL as a backup if placed in the right offence. The bengals have that offence for him especially with the added offensive weapons. Woodson would shine with a spead attack and a pounding RB like Benson.

All in all Carson is our only hope of winning but i do think Jordan should be the number 2 man.

I remember when they were talking about Andre being a 1st rounder. I can't believe that no one has really given him a shot. I don't think NY really gave him much of an opportunity to develop.

Does anyone really expect a lot out of a backup QB? Who has a backup QB worth squat? Brunell is washed up with the Jets, Sorgi is a maybe with the Giants...etc. Heck, the Steelers aren't sure which "lesser of two evils" they want to start. There aren't many, if any, teams that will win many games with a backup in.

I agree. Andre has talent and consistancy. If i were a team like Pittsburg that is looking at which back up to use, why not bring in some competition. Or you can look at a team like the Bill or Chief, do they have a back up that is really that much better than Woodson. The Bills played Ryan Fitzpatrick which was my worst nightmare when he was in Cincy. You can win with a guy who had one great NFL game when he was with the Rams. It was a fluke and won't happen again. If you have him as your QB what does it hurt to have a guy that set records in the SEC come and compete. Andre is one of the best over looked talents not in the NFL.

I would like to see the Bengals trade for a Sage Rosenfals (Sp.) I believe he is someone who would be a good backup to have in case Carson gets hurt. Which even though I am a Carson fan, I do know he does get hurt a lot. So they need to protect theirselves better than what they have behind him right now.

Sage would be good in a system like ours. We just have to hope Carson stays healthy.

This Sage Rosenfels?

Yup, seems like a Bengal to me :D.
