Yea even longer back with helmets on ! Borchers makes them wear helmets home when they lose !

There isn't a point to that....

And who ever said anything about them losing??

You seem a little upset! Whats so confusing about wearing helmets home on a bus ? I have to ask ..... ? Should the coaching staff not wear a helmet home too ? I just think is a stupid rule for kids who just played there hearts out and lost a game to do that . Do the coaches not take any responsibility for a lose ?

Do you really think so? JC is a front runner for the 5A State Championship this year. The road to State goes through JC this year IMO and I plan on being there in Nov. Anyway, Cooper is a new program. Definitely nice to see them stepping up and taking on a very good team, but I think they may still be a few years before they are able to beat teams like JC. Don't get me wrong, I would love to see them do it, but......

I think after Shawnee canceled earlier this year that JC was about the only option with an open date. I know nothing about JC but it sounds like they are very good. I'm glad coach Borchers scheduled them to see where this program is after 2 years. I do hope the helmet wearing comment is not true for a 3-4 hour bus ride IF the kids played their buts off, which I expect them to do. It's a little different than driving back from Conner or Ryle. Good luck to both teams and hope everyone is healthy after the game.

A very long night for Cooper...IMO!!! Sorry, but Cooper is going to find out real quick why Johnson Central has a one of a kind coach. Great coach but one of a kind!!! Good luck fellas....

Is this a 2 year contract with JC coming to Cooper in 2011. Just curious!!!

No, just a 1 year thing. Both teams needed a game and only wanted to make it a 1 year deal.

No, not mad, just being humerous. Your entitled to your opinion, but I have to disagree. No coach in their right mind will make a kid wear the helmet for a 3 hour bus ride. But when helmets are taken off after a bad loss kids tend to get comfortable which usually leads to horse play. Keeping helmets on gives you time on the ride home to reflect on what went wrong. My football team had to do it in high school and it never bothered me. Just depends on who you are I guess, and how you feel about it.

Coaches take plenty of responsibility the Friday nights that they are up until 3 a.m. breaking down the film and the countless hours they spend Saturday and Sunday rewatching and scouting for next weeks opponents.

I had to wear helmets home when I played as did a ton of my friends from other schools and I believe it is a very common practice among a lot of teams. It was about safety from what I can remember. You get on that yellow bus and you are a sitting target. We used to get rocks thrown at the bus where I played. Sounds like he is protecting the kids from fans more than punishing them for losing..

Then they should wear them to the game ! Also wear them when they win. Dont say its for safety if it is for punishment. Call it what it is !

We never wore them to the game.. nor did we wear them when we won.. Huh guess things tend to work out the same everywhere huh? I'm sure no matter what I say you'll find a way to turn this around and against Borchers. Personally I think the guy is doing a great job with the Cooper program and scheduling JC will do nothing but improve and prepare the team for the tough 6A schools down the road! Good luck to both teams and both coaching staffs!!!! :thumb::D:thumb::D:thumb::D

Just because they spend time breaking down film and coaching does not mean they take responsibility. I

am not talking only about Cooper but all schools. When teams lose

a lot of coaches use the famous phrase "its about the Jimmy's and Joe's, not the X's and O's " to skirt and responsibility.

I think this is good for Cooper. Maybe help get them ready for Ryle and Boone County. Good Luck, stay healthy and have fun!!!

Funny, that sounds exactly like a few coaches I had in high school. The same coaches were also famous for saying "sombody needs to make me a play".

I've never heard it said with "me" in it. Never.
