Cooper vs Johnson Central 8/28

Featured Replies

Adding the scores of the Conner and Boone vs. Cooper it was 54-10. I'm pretty sure both Boone and Conner handled Cooper extremely easily last year. Only team they got close to in the district was Campbell. Same will happen this year, maybe they will pull a little closer with Conner but i'm still seeing a loss there. Not seeing a district win for Cooper until the 2011 season. Sorry

Luckily your opinion means nothing too me....... the 26-3 score is no indication of how that game went. Anyone besides you that was at that game should agree to that. And I think I said this earlier, noone ever asked you how you thought Cooper was, i was simply stating those 3 games were competitive last year, unlike Cooper's 1st year. Good thing high school football isn't pegged on your predictions, Boone would be undefeated state champs if that was the case

Think about any team that has a running offense: Wishbone, Wing T, Straight T, Power I, I, Single Wing, Double Wing, Belly, Triple Option, or any other primarily Run offense. Those are the teams we are talking about.

Russell, Belfry, St Xavier to name a few.

Please read my post #11.

If JC has developed any kind of passing game to go with that terrific running game of theirs , not only Cooper , but a lot of teams will have trouble beating them. IMO, one demensional teams don't win many state titles.

You asked a question, I'm sorry if you didn't like the answer. You asked, "So if this "smash mouth" football style is so great , how many state titles have they received by playing this style of football?" I thought it was an honest question, so I gave an honest answer. Rusell, Belfry, and St. Xavier have won State Championships with a heavy run oriented offense. Is a balanced attack better for most teams? Of course, but not a must. Just like over the last several years people have thrown up the fact that no one has a State Championship running the "System". Now Lexington Christian did that last year. It's been done. Is it the only way to win a State Championship? No, there are effective offenses for everyone.

Also, if you look I would say you will find that more State Championships have been won by heavy run teams then balanced attacks or passing offenses.

He tends to do that...

I get your point. Maybe it's me ,but when i'm talking state titles , those three schools don't come to mind.

It's nice that you can name so many running formations , but you still have to score TD's.

Heck , Boone County couldn't win a state title with Alexander , which was a one dementional running team. I'm done beating this horse , have a great day. :D

Wow, I guess their State Championships don't count?

Have you looked up how many teams have won State Championships with a run heavy offense versus those that have been balanced or pass happy? I would love to see those.

Where in my post did I say they didn't count ?

State titles

Belfry 03,04

Russel 77,05

St.X 62,78,86,92,95,97,99,04,09

Very nice match up for Cooper. JC impressed me in Ft. Thomas last year. They are an old school Boone County. The guards/tackles probably come to the line and say "were running right here."

Do you really think so? JC is a front runner for the 5A State Championship this year. The road to State goes through JC this year IMO and I plan on being there in Nov. Anyway, Cooper is a new program. Definitely nice to see them stepping up and taking on a very good team, but I think they may still be a few years before they are able to beat teams like JC. Don't get me wrong, I would love to see them do it, but......

How long of a ride is that?

About three to four hours.

That is a looong bus ride.

Yea even longer back with helmets on ! Borchers makes them wear helmets home when they lose !

What's the purpose of that?
